# Monastic Tradition ### Zen Archery A weapon is a vessel drawn from the ideology of a person. It represents all they have become and all they aspire to be. For the Zen Archery Monk, they know this too well. To a Zen Archer, the firing of a bow is an art unto itself, requiring one to be at peace with themselves and the world around them. #### Notch One's Soul When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you have learned to pour your soul and willpower into bows. You gain the following benefits. * you become proficient with Longbows. * Shortbows and Longbows now count as monk weapons, and you may choose to either use the weapon's damage dice or your unarmed strike damage dice. * If you make an attack with a longbow or shortbow on your turn, you can make another attack with that weapon as a bonus action. * You can now make a flurry of blows with a longbow or shortbow. #### Ki Shots Starting at 3rd level, whenever you successfully hit a creature with a ranged weapon attack, you may spend 1 ki point to empower your arrows with the power residing in your ki. ***Overpowing Shot:*** The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. ***Striking Shot:*** The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be pushed back 15 feet. ***Bouncing Shot:*** You may make another attack with your weapon against a creature within 30 feet of the target creature. #### Shots in the Dark Starting at 6th level, being without sight doesn't hinder your bow attacks. As long as you can hear, you are aware to the locations of creatures within 120 feet of you. This does not make you aware to hidden or invisible creatures, and you must still make checks to perceive obscured creatures as you normally would. Additionally, your bow attacks now count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage, and you may use the Stunning Strike feature with ranged weapon attacks from bows. #### Revert Missiles Starting at 11th level, when you use Deflect Missiles with a projectile that is appropriate ammo for your own weapon, you may make an Attack as a reaction with your own weapon without expending a ki point. Additionally, Deflect Missiles can now be applied to single target spells that require an attack roll. Deflecting a spell in this way costs Ki points equal to the spell level (cantrips cost 1 ki point). Reaction attacks with these spells use your Wisdom modifier for the attack roll. \columnbreak #### Soul Bow Master Starting at 17th level, your ranged weapon attacks score a critical hit on an attack roll of 19 or 20. Additionally, you may spend 3 ki points to perform a Soul Arrow shot as an action. When firing a soul arrow, your ranged weapon gains the following benefits. * Doubles its range increment. * Has advantage on the attack roll. * Ignores all damage resistance, immunity, and cover. When the arrow is fired, you may spend an action to close your eyes and perceive through the arrow. You may maintain this concentration each turn by spending your action, or if you leave this perception, you may re-enter it as an action. While in this perception, you are unaware to your own surroundings. You are always constantly aware where your Soul Arrow is anchored for the next 24 hours. Should it hit a target, a DC 25 Strength check is required to pry it out.
