### Lore Savant A lore savant is an arcane tradition fixated on understanding the underlying mechanics of magic. It is the most academic of all arcane traditions. The promise of uncovering new knowledge or proving (or discrediting) a theory of magic is usually required to rouse its practitioners from their laboratories, academies, and archives to pursue a life of adventure. Known as savants, followers of this tradition are a bookish lot who see beauty and mystery in secrets that surround magic. #### Lore Master When you adopt this tradition at 2nd level, you become a compendium of knowledge on a vast array of topics. Choose two of the following skills: Arcana, History, Nature, and Religion. Your proficency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make using those skills if you are proficient in them. #### Arcane Secrets Starting at 2nd level, you're capable of understanding the hidden fabrics of magic. You add the *detect magic* spell to your spellbook, if it is not there already. You always have this spell prepared, and it doesn’t count against the number of spells you can have prepared. When you detect magic with the *detect magic* spell, you can learn one piece of additional information. - If the magical effect is a spell, you learn the level of the spell, and what ability score was used as the spellcasting ability for that spell, if any. - If the magical effect is an enchanted item, you learn the rarity of that item, as well as how long ago it was enchanted or crafted. - If the magical effect is neither a spell nor an item, your DM can reveal any piece of information that they feel is apporpriate for this effect. \columnbreak
#### Advanced Rituals Beginning at 6th level, you become more capable at quickly performing spells as rituals, and can use a fraction of their magic to restore your casting capabilities. Casting any wizard as a ritual spell only takes you an additional minute, rather than ten minutes. Furthermore, you can cast any wizard spell with the ritual tag as an action without expending a spell slot. Once you do so, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest. #### Prodigious Memory Starting at 10th level, you have attained a greater mastery of spell preparation. As a bonus action, you can replace one spell you have prepared with another spell from your spellbook. You can't use this feature again until you finish a short or long rest. #### Expansive Knowledge At 14th level, your knowledge allows you to expand the minds of those around you, allowing them to unlock their hidden power. You add the *enchance ability* and *skill empowerment* spells to your spellbook, and can cast those spells as rituals as if they had the ritual tag. In addition, you gain proficiency in any combination of three skills or tools of your choice. You also learn three languages of your choice.
