Tribal Nomad

You were born into the world floating like a leaf in the wind; your people, nomadic travelers, wandering throughout their homelands, feet falling softly leaving no track and bringing all that one has along on the road. Your elders read the stars to navigate to ancient drinking holes and meeting places to meet other tribes and your chief and his hunters hunted masterfully and without mercy but they chose their targets knowing that the balance of the wilderness would not be upset by your passing. From a child, you were wed to the animals who lived alongside you to keep you alive, able to command your steeds with authority and respect. Your people, like the blade of grass in the wind, bend and adapt; so you too have learnt to survive no matter where you are.

Feature: Tale of the Night Sky

You learnt from your elders, the map of the stars of your home. You are able to navigate using the night sky to go to any place you have previously been or any location for which you have been shown a star-map providing the distance between the target location and any location you have been to before is no greater than 100 miles. To learn the stars of a region you must spend 1 hour at night watching the stars, providing the sky is clear enough. This allows you to have a precise idea of where you are in relation to where you have been, allowing you to mark your exact position on any map that contains a previously visited location within 100 miles of your location.

Suggested Characteristics

Tribal Nomads are often seen as noble warriors and hunters who prize honour and the balance of nature above all things. While many do prize nature and are also often honour-bound many are of less grand allegiances, placing great importance on their crafts or families. Among Tribal Nomads there also exist characters of more nefarious intents, though less common, who are often exiled from the tribe for their ways.

d8 Tribal Homeland
1 Arid Desert
2 Grassy Plains
3 Alpine Mountains
4 Frozen Tundra
5 Tropical Jungle
6 Treacherous Marshlands
7 Windswept Steppe
8 Evergreen Forest
d8 Personality Trait
1 I travel light and only take what I need... That includes people.
2 I always struggled with our tribal lifestyle, finding myself bored and frustrated with the endless monotony of our journey.
3 I believe understanding the commonalities between man and beast will allow me to navigate the wiles and malintents of the depraved and hostile.
4 I follow the foreign and seek the undiscovered... But at my own pace.
5 I often rode away from the tribe, out into the night to be alone with the wind and the cold air.
6 I find myself easily lost in the thunderous tempo of the hunt. One sees their true self in the void you must find to best your prey.
7 Everything I have and have achieved is a result of my own work and I take great pride in my self-sufficiency.
8 Some of them called me crazy. Some said I should become a druid and commune with our ancestors. I think it's all nonsense. I'm just inspired.
d6 Ideal
1 Fate. The world is in an ongoing cycle of destruction and creation and we all have a duty to see this process out for better or worse. (Neutral)
2 Tradition. The old ways must be preserved, else the balance of the world be lost to chaos. (Lawful)
3 Freedom. The creator threads our fate masterfully, and we puppets dance for them, helpless and alone. I won't be anyone's puppet, be they man or god. (Chaotic)
4 Cooperation. By supporting each other and caring for each other, the world can progress and evolve to live in harmony. (Good)
5 Supremacy. It is my duty to show the people the way to glory and to take what is rightfully mine, disposing of any who would dare oppose me. (Evil)
6 Perfection. I must seek perfection in everything that I do and everything that I am. (Any)
d6 Bond
1 The tribe leaves no one behind and I won't either. No matter the risk.
2 I seek to discover new lands in the hope that, one day, I can return home and tell my people of the world and my adventures and bring to them many wonders.
3 Those who abuse their power deserve to have it taken from them.
4 Those who took me from my people must pay for their crimes and any who would dare to do the same to another will suffer the same fate.
5 The balance of the world is being upset by the destruction of nature and I must do all I can to restore the balance
6 No matter where I am, the honour of my family must be upheld and our enemies must be destroyed.
d6 Flaw
1 I have an even temper until someone takes it a little too far. It never ends well for anyone.
2 Once I have chosen my prey, I enjoy the hunt as long as I can.
3 Out in the wilderness we move with the winds, never settling in one place. I still can't shake the habit.
4 All the new sights and sounds of the outside world have rendered me less aware than a deaf, blind deer foal.
5 Together the pack is strong. Alone, I'm but a shivering cub at the mercy of the elements and those who would take advantage of my weakness.
6 I feel at home wherever I am. Sometimes too at homeā€¦
