# Journal Entries

R *ecords are important, and I have grown up reading the journals of my parents. I feel I must keep a journal of my own, that my thoughts might be passed to others.
But perhaps I have gotten ahead of myself.

### Recording the Journey
#### Why document the journey?
There are many reasons to document the journey for your player character. 
* To keep a log of what happened in the game
* To not forget important details
* To show that dirty DM that he was wrong <br /> (DM Note: I *promise* that won't require retaliatory actions)

#### Accepted Journal Formats 
Journal entries will be accepted in multiple formats
* Ideally from the point of view of your character
* From the point of view of someone retelling the story
* From the point of view of the player <br /> (What the player saw, exeperienced, did, etc.)
* Any other format worked out with the DM

#### Accepted Journal Length 
A journal entry has no maximum length but shouldn't be shorter than about two paragraphs, depending on the session.

#### Accepted Journal Delivery Types 
Electronic format is preferred for journals but handwritten or printed formats will also be accepted.

### Optional Rules

#### Increased Inspiration Storage
The Inspiration pool has been increased to give players incentive to continue to write journal entries and trade more Inspiration away if they are at max Inspiration.<br />See: Inspiration Optional Rule

#### Note Takers
This rule could be adapted to give session note takers additional reward for a needed but often thankless job.<br /> Such roles could include:
* Party Inventory Management
* Notes for the party
* Notes for the DM <br /> (Locations, names, map-making)
#### Engaging Easily Distracted Players
Use this rule as a way to engage distracted or troublesome players.

### Rewards
#### How to get Credit for your journal
Journal entries are due at the beginning of the next D&D session you are present at.   
<br />
For example, if Stewie plays in Session 1, misses Session 2, but joins Session 3, his journal for Session 1 will be due at the beginning of Session 3. No opportunity will be given for his PC to earn Inspiration from a session he was not present.

#### Inspiration as Reward
After turning in your journal entry, the DM will award you with 1 Inspiration.
#### Why Inspiration?
Inspiration can be used by any player, class, or build type in any campaign to give Advantage when the Player wants it.
#### Journal from your Character
The journal entries sent to the DM will be compiled using GMBinder.com and will be given to the player characters upon death, the character leaving the campaign or in the case that the campaign ends.  
This reward is meant to give you a reminder of your character to take with you after they're gone.
