Mirror Shards
Weapon (dagger), artifact (requires attunement)
Legend has it that when Althaesia was sundered, a portal to the Ethereal plane was shattered, leaving behind shards of bent space. Ages ago, an artificer by the name of Phynomorn collected five of these shards and bound them into a set of five daggers, called the Mirror Shards. Each Mirror Shard has a sleek, silver handle and an impossibly thin blade which either reflects or refracts light, depending on the angle.
You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with these magic weapons. As long as you are attuned to the Mirror Shards, they have the following additional properties.
Recall. As a bonus action, you can recall all five of the Mirror Shards to you. They teleport and reappear on your person as you choose.
Mirror Image. As an action, you can use three of the Mirror Shards to cast the mirror image spell. The three daggers used to cast the spell transform into your duplicates. Whenever one of the duplicates of that spell is destroyed, the dagger used to create it reappears in your square.
Mirror Copy. Whenever you make a ranged weapon attack with one of the Mirror Shards, whether the attack hits or misses, the thrown dagger becomes a Mirror Copy of you, appearing in an unoccupied square adjacent to the target. The copy shimmers at certain angles, and can be recognized as an illusion with a DC 10 Intelligence (Investigation) check. The copy's AC equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier. If an attack hits a copy, the copy is destroyed. A copy can only be destroyed by an attack that hits it. Whenever a copy is destroyed, the dagger used to create it reappears in the same square. The copy remains until destroyed or until you use the Recall property.
Mirror Step. As a bonus action, choose one of your Mirror Copies that you can see within 30 feet of you. You teleport, swapping places with that copy.
Mirror Exploit. If a creature would provoke an opportunity attack from one of your Mirror Copies that you can see within 30 feet of you, you can use your reaction to teleport, swapping places with that copy, and make a melee attack against the creature.
Mirror Escape. If a spell or ability would require you to make a saving throw, if you can see at least one of your Mirror Copies within 30 feet of you, you may use your reaction to make a Dexterity save instead of the usual save for that spell. On a successful save, you teleport, swapping places with the copy, and the copy is affected by the spell instead.
Arcane Gate. As an action, you can throw two of the Mirror Shards to cast the arcane gate spell, but with a range equal to the long range of your daggers (60 feet). The thrown daggers form the two portals of the spell, which appear as mercurial mirror pools floating in mid air. The portals remain until you use the Recall property.
Steel Wind Strike. As an action, you can use all five Mirror Shards to cast the steel wind strike spell, using Dexterity as your spellcasting ability modifier for the attack. Each dagger transforms into a Mirror Copy of you, appearing next to each of the targets. If you chose to teleport as part of the spell, you swap places with the Mirror Copy that would have appeared adjacent to that target. Once this property is used, it can't be used again until the next dawn. This property can't be used if you have used the Scatter property this day.
Scatter. As an action, you can use all five Mirror Shards to cast the scatter spell (spell save DC 18), but each target can only be teleported to a space within the long range of your daggers (60 feet). Each dagger transforms into a Mirror Copy of you, appearing next to each of the targets. Once this property is used, it can't be used again until the next dawn. This property can't be used if you have used the Steel Wind Strike property this day.
Destroying the Mirror Shards. The Mirror Shards will be immediately destroyed if they are brought to the Ethereal Plane for any length of time, leaving behind only five silver handles worth 50gp each. If any one of the daggers is destroyed, all are destroyed.
