The Stained Ossein
Long ago, there lived a man that burnt their name out of history. Though their name has been lost to time, their legacy lives on in a diseased weapon set known as the Stained Ossein.
The swords that make up the Stained Ossein are particularly strange to encounter. The blades of these dual swords appear to be made of a blacked bone marrow, but are constantly stained in blood and appear to be as strong as adamantine, rendering the blades almost unbreakable. In addition, the blades incorperate a strong image of death, with most of the motif of the weapons being made of bone, and housing a smaller than average skull to hold together the hilts and blades of each copy.
Singular Stained Ossein
Weapon (longsword), very rare (requires attunement)
Upon attuning to the weapon, the Singular Stained Ossein infuses itself into your dominant hand. This causes everything above the hand to sprout pulsating red veins up to your shoulder. As a bonus action, you may force the blade to shoot from your hand, allowing you to grasp ahold of the blade or give it to another creature to admire or hold. Alternatively, you may cause your forearm and hand to sprout the sword's blade.
Magic Weapon. The Singular Stained Ossein is a magic longsword with finesse that grants a +2 damage bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. The blade also functions as a sword of sharpness and deals an extra 1d6 slashing damage to celestials.
Plaguebringer. While attuned to this artifact, you are immune to disease. If you would have become afflicted or were afflicted with a disease before attunement, they become stored within the blade.
The Singular Stained Ossein can hold up to 3 diseases at a time. As a reaction upon hitting a creature, you may choose to pass on one of the diseases infused into the blade. The creature must make a DC18 Constitution saving throw to resist this effect.
Whispering Plague. While the blade is being used, you can use an action to remove a disease from the blade to become invisible as per the Invisibilty spell. If you attack and hit a creature while under this effect, the creature takes 2d4 poison damage.
Attuning to both of the Swords
If you choose to attune to the pair of the Stained Ossein, you gain the following features:
- The other blade is infused into your opposite hand. In addition, you may release them at the same time.
- You gain immunity to poison damage and gain advantage on saving throws against being poisoned.
- Both blades can carry up to 4 diseases at a time. In addition, Whispering Plague invisibility now acts as the greater invisibility spell.
- If you have 8 diseases stored in the pair of Stained Ossein, you may remove all 8 diseases from the blades to cast finger of death (save DC20) and gain the effects of the haste spell for 1 minute.
