### Serpent Lineage Your innate magic comes from the dark ritualistic magic of the Yuan-ti that has tainted the blood of your ancestors. Sseth, Merrshaulk and Dendar's influence seeps through your veins, a collection of magic from ancient pasts. Many trace their descent to a Yuan-ti ritualistic ascension. Thier cursed blood, the results of the serpents twisted magic. While these bloodlines may be rare, some take pride in their dark heritage, while others hide the shame of their tainted blood. #### Restriction: Yuan-ti Purebloods Only Only yuan-ti purebloods can choose the serpent lineage sorcerous origin. Your DM can lift this restriction to better suit the campaign. #### Variant: Origin Spells Each origin has a list of spells -its origin spells- that you gain at the sorcerer levels noted in the origin description. Once you gain an origin spell, you always know it, and it doesn't count against the number of spells you know. If you have an origin spell that doesn't appear on the sorcerer spell list, the spell is nonetheless a sorcerer spell for you. | Sorcerer Level | Spells | |:---:|:-----------| | 1 | *command* | | 3 | *crown of madness* | | 5 | *enemies abound* | | 7 | *dominate beast* | | 9 | *hold monster* | | 11 | *mass suggestion*| #### Shapechanger At 1st level, suffused with the magic of Sseth, you gain the ability to polymorph into a *giant poisonous snake*, a *constrictor snake*, or your true form as an action. Your statistics and actions are constant and replace the snakes'. Equipment you are wearing or carrying drops to the ground if it can't be worn by your new form. When you drop to 0 hit points or die, you do so as your polymorphed form. \columnbreak #### Serpents Gaze At 1st level, your piercing gaze becomes enchanting, mesmerizing to those who fall under its focus. As an action, you can choose one creature you can see within 30 feet of you. If the target can see you, it makes a Charisma saving throw against your sorcerer spell save DC. If the target fails their saving throw, it becomes charmed or frightened by you (your choice). You can maintain concentration on this effect for up to 1 minute as long as you use your bonus action on each subsequent turn to do so and the target can still see you. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest. #### Sticks to Snakes At 6th level, your magic entwined with Merrshaulk's will, grants you the ability to bathe a pile of sticks, arrows, or similar pieces of wood with your magic and turn it into your ally. As an action, you spend 5 sorcery points to transform the pile of wood into a *swarm of poisonous snakes* for up to a minute. The swarm rolls its own initiative and obeys your verbal commands. The swarm reverts back to its original material after the duration ends or when the swarm is reduced to 0 hit points. #### Slither Away At 14th level, whenever you would take damage, you can use your reaction to temporarily discorporate into a pile of snakes, reducing the damage by twice your sorcerer level. If you reduce the damage to 0, you can move 30 feet without provoking opportunity attacks, and reform as one of the forms granted by your Shapechanger feature. Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again. #### Nightmarish Gaze Beginning at 18th level, your gaze is imbued with the magic of the night serpent, allowing you to manifest the fear of creatures and feast upon it. As an action, you spend 5 sorcery points to choose a creature you can see within 30 feet of you. As part of this action, you appear as a physical manifestation of that creatures deepest fears until the start of your next turn, only visible to the target. The target must make an Charisma saving throw against your Sorcerer spell save DC. On a failed save, The target takes 12d10 psychic damage, becomes frightened of you, loses its reactions until the start of it's next turn, and must spend its next turn moving as far from you as it can. On a Successful save, the target takes half the psychic damage. You gain temporary hit points equal to the damage dealt to the target. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
