## Dragonborn There are ten major ancestries associated with the Dragonborn race. What is now becoming known is that there are more than just those ten. Through conversations with some of these lesser known ancestries I believe that some of them are ready to become known to the world. A word of caution to you: Many adventurers have assumed the quality of a dragonborn's character based on their lineage, don't. They can be just as varied as all the other races when it comes to how good or vile an individual can be. All creatures, I have learned, carry the capacity for good and evil. It is all a matter of choice to the individual. ### Dragonborn Traits All of the following traits are common to dragonborn of any heritage. #### *Ability Score Increase.* Your Strength score increases by 2, and another ability score increases by 1 based on your draconic ancestry. #### *Age.* Dragonborn are know for aging faster than humans until around 15 years of age, then their aging slows to a more normal rate. Many have been know to live to 80, if not a little longer. #### *Alignment.* Dragonborn run the full spectrum of good and evil, Though they usually drift towards the extremes. You won't find many neutral dragonborn, they take the sides between Bahamut and Tiamat quite seriously. #### *Size.* Dragonborn tower over humans, regularly beyond 6 feet in height, and nearly 250 pounds. You are considered Medium size. #### *Speed.* Unless otherwise stated by your draconic ancestry, your base speed is 30 feet. #### *Draconic Ancestry.* Your lineage of draconic bloodlines determines a few of your traits. Choose a type of dragon from those listed under Chromatic, Metallic and Gemstone. Your breath weapon and damage resistance are determined by your ancestry as listed. #### *Breath Weapon.* You can use an action to exhale powerful energy. Your draconic ancestry determines the size, shape, and type of the exhalation. When you use your breath weapon, each crature in the effected area must make a saving throw, determined by your draconic ancestry. The DC for the saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, and half of that on a successful one. The damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level. After you use your breath weapon, you must take a short or long rest to regain it. \columnbreak #### *Damage Resistance.* You have damage resistance to the type associated with your draconic ancestry. #### *Languages.* You can speak, read, and write Common and Draconic. ### Chromatic Dragonborn * Black: +1 Charisma; Can hold breath for three times as long as normal; Swim speed 30 feet. * Blue: +1 Wisdom; Tremor Sense 15'; Burrow speed 15 feet. * Green: +1 Dexterity; Gain proficiency in Stealth skill; Choose a terrain type, gain advantage on Stealth checks in that terrain. * Red: +1 Intelligence; Gain proficiency in Deception and Intimidate skills. * White: +1 Constitution; Treat slippery surfaces as normal terrain; Gain advantage to resisting being knocked prone. ### Metallic Dragonborn * Brass: +1 Dexterity; Sleep breath*; Proficiency in Persuasion skill; One language of your choice. * Bronze: +1 Constitution; Repulsion breath*; Gain proficiency with Navigator's tools; Gain Pesuasion skill. * Copper: +1 Charisma; Slowing breath*; Gain proficiency with a musical istrument; Gain proficiency in Perform skill. * Gold: +1 Intelligence; Weakening breath*; Gain proficiency in Arcana and History skills. * Silver: +1 Wisdom; Paralyzing breath*; Gain Perception and Religion skills. ### Gemstone Dragonborn * Amethyst: +1 Intelligence; Line of concussive force; Resistance to Thunder damage; * Crystal: +1 Charisma; Cone of Brilliant Light, causes Blindness on a failed save; Resistance to Psychic damage; Gain Darkvision 60 feet. * Emerald: +1 Wisdom; Cone of Sonic Energy, causes Deafness on a failed save; Resistance to Thunder damage; * Sapphire: +1 Dexterity; Inaudible Sonic Energy, causes the target to be Frightened; Resistance to Psychic damage; * Topaz: +1 Constitution; Cone of Dehydration, water based creatures take disadvantage to their saving throw; Resistance to Necrotic damage; #### *All Metallic Dragons can choose between the standard breath weapon for their color or the alternate breath weapon listed. Once the choice is made, it is permanent. The Dragonborn retains the immunity to the standard breath weapon of their color.
