ASI / FEAT REPLACEMENTS
The abilities below are options to replace the standard ASI or Feats gained at 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level for most classes, and at 4th, 6th, 8th, 12th, 14th, 16th, and 19th level for Fighters. Players can choose to take the standard ASI, or a Feat (if your game allows Feats), or one of the class-specific abilities listed below.
These options mostly improve class abilities by granting extra uses per short or long rest, or increasing the potency of abilities as used. In rare cases (I'm looking at you, PHB Ranger...) the replacement ability grants new powers to a class.
Barbarian
When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase 2 ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you cannot increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
At 4th and 8th level, instead of increasing your ability scores, you can choose to take either an extra Rage per long rest, add 2 to your Rage damage, or gain proficiency in saving throws for a statistic of your choice.
At 12th, 16th, and 19th level, in addition to the options above, you can choose to take +1 to your Unarmoured defense, add an additional damage die to your Brutal Critical, or add 5' to your Fast Movement ability.
Bard
When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase 2 ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you cannot increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
At 4th and 8th level, instead of increasing your ability scores, you can choose gain proficiency in 2 languages, gain 1 additional use of Bardic Inspiration per long rest, or gain proficiency in saving throws for a statistic of your choice.
At 12th, 16th, and 19th level, in addition to the options above, you can choose to gain Expertise in 2 additional skills, double the healing dice rolled for your Song of Rest, or gain another instance of Magical Secrets.
Cleric
When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase 2 ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you cannot increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
At 4th and 8th level, instead of increasing your ability scores, you can choose to take either an extra use of Channel Divinity per short or long rest, add 1 to either your Spell DC or Spell Attack Bonus, or gain proficiency in saving throws for a statistic of your choice.
At 12th, 16th, and 19th level, in addition to the options above, you can choose to improve your Destroy Undead ability by +1 CR.
Druid
When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase 2 ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you cannot increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
At 4th and 8th level, instead of increasing your ability scores, you can choose to take either an extra use of Wild Shape per short or long rest, add 1 to either your Spell DC or Spell Attack Bonus, or gain proficiency in saving throws for a statistic of your choice.
At 12th, 16th, and 19th level, in addition to the options above, you can choose to add 1 to the maximum CR of your Wild Shape.
Fighter
When you reach 4th level, and again at 6th, 8th, 12th, 14th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase 2 ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you cannot increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
At 4th, 6th, and 8th level, instead of increasing your ability scores, you can choose to take either an additional Fighting Style, an additional use of Second Wind per short or long rest, or gain proficiency in saving throws for a statistic of your choice.
At 12th, 14th, 16th, and 19th level, in addition to the options above, you can choose to take an additional use of Action Surge per short or long rest, or an additional use of Indomitable per short or long rest.
Monk
When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase 2 ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you cannot increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
At 4th and 8th level, instead of increasing your ability scores, you can choose to gain 2 extra Ki Points per short or long rest, add 5' to your Unarmoured Movement, or gain proficiency in saving throws for a statistic of your choice.
At 12th, 16th, and 19th level, in addition to the options above, you can choose to take +1 to your Unarmoured Defense, or increase your Martial Arts Damage by 1 dice step.
Paladin
When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase 2 ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you cannot increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
At 4th and 8th level, instead of increasing your ability scores, you can choose to add 5 points to your Lay On Hands pool, gain 1 use of Divine Sense per long rest, gain 1 free 1st Level Divine Smite per long rest, or gain proficiency in saving throws for a statistic of your choice.
At 12th, 16th, and 19th level, in addition to the options above, you can choose to gain 1 extra use of Channel Divinity per short or long rest, or 1 extra use of Cleansing Touch per long rest.
Ranger
When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase 2 ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you cannot increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
At 4th and 8th level, instead of increasing your ability scores, you can choose to take either an additional Favoured Enemy, an additional Favoured Terrain, or gain proficiency in saving throws for a statistic of your choice.
At 12th, 16th, and 19th level, in addition to the options above, you can choose to learn 1 cantrip from either the Druid or Cleric spell list, or add an additional 5' to your movement speed.
Rogue
When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase 2 ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you cannot increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
At 4th and 8th level, instead of increasing your ability scores, you can choose to take either an extra 1d6 damage to your Sneak Attack, gain proficiency in 2 skills or expertise in 1, or gain proficiency in saving throws for a statistic of your choice.
At 12th, 16th, and 19th level, in addition to the options above, you can choose to have your Uncanny Dodge result in one quarter damage from an attack, have your Evasion result in one quarter damage from an area attack on a failed Dexterity save, or increase your Reliable Talent by +1 .
Sorcerer
When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase 2 ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you cannot increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
At 4th and 8th level, instead of increasing your ability scores, you can choose to gain 2 additional Sorcery Points per long rest, gain 1 Metamagic option, or gain proficiency in saving throws for a statistic of your choice.
At 12th, 16th, and 19th level, in addition to the options above, you can choose to reduce the number of Sorcery Points required to create a spell slot of each level by 1, to a minimum of 1, or increase the number of Sorcery Points generated from converting a spell slot of any level by 1.
Warlock
When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase 2 ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you cannot increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
At 4th, 8th, and 12th level, instead of increasing your ability scores, you can choose to take either increase the number of spells you know by 1, gain 1 additional Spell Slot per short or long rest, gain one Invocation, or gain proficiency in saving throws for a statistic of your choice.
At 16th level, in addition to the options above, you can choose to have an additional use of your 7th or 8th level Mystic Arcanum per long rest.
At 19th level, in addition to the options above, you can choose to have an additional use of your 9th level Mystic Arcanum per long rest.
Wizard
When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase 2 ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you cannot increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
At 4th and 8th level, instead of increasing your ability scores, you can choose to gain an additional Spell Slot of your highest available level, add 2 to your maximum number of Known Spells, add 1 to either your Spell DC or Spell Attack Bonus, or gain proficiency in saving throws for a statistic of your choice.
At 12th, 16th, and 19th level, in addition to the options above, you can choose to add 1 to the total number of spell slots you can recover using Arcane Recovery.
