Conclave of Ethereal Avengers

The Ethereal avengers focus their attention on the study and interaction of the inhabitants of the Ethereal plane and other negative energy planes. Often, such hunters are connoisseurs of behavior and communication with the undead beings. Many of them hunt for rare types of undead, such as ghosts, ghasts, vampires and alike. Because of the behavior of some members, they earned their name - Manyof them acted as mercenaries, assassins, "Vengeful Spirits" whose goal was not just to accomplish the task, but to destroy the very essence. Their favorite method was to pierce the heart and soul of the target with their spear, infused with necrotic energy.

The Ethereal Avengers Training

Ethereal Avengers sharpen their skills in two areas - mastering martial arts with spears combining with dark magic.

Starting from the 3rd level, you can treat Spear, Javelin or Trident as Finesse weapons.

Moreover, every time you take an attack action you can bounce.

Bounce. Whenever you make an attack, right before the attack you can bounce by moving 5 feet in any direction. Whenever you are moving in such way, opportunity attacks against you are made with disadvantage.

Also, you gain access to additional spells at 3rd, 5th, 9th, 13th and 17th levels. These spells are ranger spells for you and are not included in the total number of known ranger spells.

Soul Break

Starting from the 7th level, you will learn the dark technique of tearing the soul apart.

Each time you hit the target with a projectile, you leave a ghostly version of it in the target's body. The amount of phantom projectiles on one creature can not exceed the double of your Wisdom modifier. While the creatures are within a radius of 120 feet, you can use the action to tear out all phantom projectiles. All targets with phantom projectiles must make a Constitution Saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, targets receives a 1d6 + Wisdom modifier of necrotic damage for each phantom projectile that is in the target's body and its life span reduced by the number of years equal to the damage dealt. On successful save, the target only receives half of the damage and their life span is not reduced.

Phantom projectiles exist for up to 1 hour, or if the target is more than 1 mile away from you.

Once you use this feature, you can not use it again until the end of a short or long rest.


Phantom Guardian

Starting from the 11th level, the Ethereal Avengers are able to use the echoes of souls that lie in the bodies of the dead.

After spending a minute ritual on the creature that was dead no more for 1 hour you can summon the Echo of the Soul.

The Echo of the Soul uses Sprite statistics, except that it can not use the Attack action, and the creature does not remember all the events of its life except the last hour of its life. While the Echo of the Soul is on the same plane with you, you can telepathically communicate with it.

Additionally, as an action, you can see through your Echo of the Soul's eyes and hear what it hears until the start of your next turn, gaining the benefits of any special senses that the Echo of the Soul has.

The Echo of the Soul remains in your service until the end of your next long rest, at which point it vanishes to the afterlife. Once you summon an Echo of the Soul with this feature, you can’t use the feature again until you finish a long rest.

Ethereal Champion

Starting from the 15th level, you reach the top in the art of the Ethereal Avengers.

When an enemy creature hits you with an attack, you can Bounce as a reaction at a distance equal to half of your movement speed, and make one attack against the target. This movement does not provoke opportunity attack, and if you hit by using any thrown or ranged weapon this attack inflict 2 phantom projectiles instead of one.

Also, the damage from the Soul Break increases to 1d8 + Wisdom modifier for each Phantom projectile.
