## Captain Fraxel *"No, I’m tellin ya, I give him all me best shots, left, right, left, right, and all that happens is these bits keep fallin off ‘im. Like, wooden bits. And e’s laughin like a loon, y’know? Not bothered at all. So at last I goes in close with the old shivy-shiv, and, right enough, there’s loadsa blood squirtin everywhere. Only – it’s not blood. “Me rum box!” ‘e starts shoutin, tryin to plug up all the shivy ‘oles in his chest with his fingers. “Save the rum,” he’s going to me, “don’t jus stands there! Save the bloody rum!” Honestly, I’m tellin ya. He ‘ad this massive hat, like really massive. I liked him. Liked him a lot."* *- Hyde the Goblin* Proving that small can definitely be dangerous, what Captain Fraxel lacks in stature he makes up for in notoriety. Many have claimed to have taken his life during his long and infamous career, but like a bad smell he just won't go away. This has become something of a mystery to the seafaring community. Is he immortal, does he have the power to regenerate his injuries, or is Captain Fraxel not a single goblin, but rather a mantle that is taken up by another whenever the previous Fraxel passes away? The truth is far less impressive, for Fraxel's longevity can be attributed solely to his uncanny ability to play dead, waiting until the threat has passed before escaping to fight another day. This is how he has survived for over half a century, rare for a goblin but even rarer for a pirate goblin. To say he survived tells only half the story however, in his time he has taken some cruel and vicious injuries which would have forced many pirates to retire. Instead, a remarkable amount of his body, including much of his face, has been replaced by prosthetics. So familiar is he with his replacement body parts, that they actually enhance his abilities, allowing him to climb faster with the use of climbing hooks, or take blows that would down another goblin. They also contain many secret compartments that he uses to prevent his "killers" from looting him of his most precious items. ***Prosthetic Body.*** Fraxel has had so much of his body replaced by prosthetics, not only does it act as a form of armour but it is full of surprises for the unwary. ***Pirate Code.*** Fraxel may not obey the law of the land, but he will stick rigidly to the articles of the pirate code. Woe betide any crew that believe these are more
like guidelines. \columnbreak ___ > ## Captain Fraxel >*Small humanoid (goblinoid), lawful evil* > ___ > - **Armor Class** 16 (prosthetics) > - **Hit Points** 73 (21d6) > - **Speed** 30 ft., climb 30 ft. >___ >|STR|DEX|CON|INT|WIS|CHA| >|:----:|:----:|:----:|:----:|:----:|:----:| >|10 (+0)|17 (+3)|10 (+0)|11 (+0)|9 (-1)|16 (+3)| >___ > - **Saving Throws** Constitution +3, Dexterity +6 > - **Skills** Acrobatics +6, Deception +9, Stealth +9 > - **Senses** darkvision 60 ft., passive Perception 9 > - **Languages** Common, Goblin > - **Challenge** 6 (2,300 XP) > ___ > ***Three Brace O' Pistols.*** Fraxel has three braces holding six loaded pistols, for the first six sea snake pistol attacks he ignores the loading property of his pistols. > > ***Nimble Escape.*** Fraxel can take the Disengage or Hide action as a bonus action on each of his turns. > > ***Playing Dead.*** If Fraxel takes 20 damage or less that would reduce him to 0 hit points, he is reduced to 1 hit point instead. He has advantage on Charisma (Deception) checks to play dead until he is healed. > ### Actions > ***Multiattack.*** Fraxel makes two attacks with either his sea snake pistols or his incendiary smoke bombs. > > ***Scimitar.*** *Melee Weapon Attack:* +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. *Hit:* 6 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage. > > ***Sea Snake Pistol.*** *Ranged Weapon Attack:* +6 to hit, range 30/90 ft., one target. *Hit:* 8 (1d10 + 3) piercing damage, and 13 (3d8) poison damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned for 1 minute. If the saving throw fails by 5 or more, the target is also paralyzed while poisoned in this way. The poisoned target can repeat the saving throw on each of its turns, ending the effect on a success. > > ***Incendiary Smoke Bomb.*** Fraxel throws a bomb at a point within 60 feet. Each creature within 10 feet of that point must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw, taking 10 (3d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The smoke from the bomb creates a heavily obscured area in a 10-foot radius. A moderate wind (at least 10 miles per hour) disperses the smoke in 4 rounds; a strong wind (20 or more miles per hour) disperses it in one round. > ### Reactions > ***Redirect Attack.*** When a creature Fraxel can see targets him with an attack, Fraxel chooses another goblin within 5 feet of him that is an ally. The two goblins swap places, and the chosen goblin becomes the target instead.
