## Otherworldly Patrons ### The Velvet Room #### My Other Self (I am Thou, and Thou art I) You enter into a contract with the strange master of the Velvet Room. Never more than a doorway distant from you, he guides your path through the strange fate set upon you, in an effort to help you progress beyond it. But help is never free, is it...? At 1st level, you gain the ability to summon your Other Self in varied forms - either as your signature form, or a prepared form. As an action, you can magically summon your Other Self to come to your aid. It appears in a space adjacent to you and shares your turn, movement, action, and bonus action, and reaction. Whatever form the creature takes, it retains its attributes, but uses your Proficiency Bonus, and can never be more than 60 feet away from you. While a form is summoned, you and it share resistances, vulnerabilities, immunities, and senses. Any damage dealt to your Other Self is in turn dealt to you as Psychic damage.
**Signature Form** At 1st level, you have a signature form of your choice. This form must have a challenge rating less than or equal to your proficiency bonus. You may summon this form as often as you wish, but it only remains for a number of rounds equal to your proficiency bonus. Additionally when you gain a level in this class, you can replace your signature form with another, which also must have a challenge rating less than or equal to your proficiency bonus.
**Studied Forms** When summoning studied forms, you must expend a spell slot equal to or greater than the challenge rating of the form you're summoning. This form remains for a number of minutes equal to your proficiency bonus, and requires concentration. Psychic damage dealt to you via your Other Self doesn't trigger concentration checks. You prepare a list of studied forms that are available for you to summon. When you do so, choose a number of forms equal to your proficiency bonus. The forms must be of a level for which you have spell slots. You can change your list of studied forms when you finish a long rest. Preparing a new list of studied forms requires time spent studying their attributes: at least 1 minute per challenge rating for each form on your list. After you summon a prepared form this way, you cannot summon that form again until you take a short rest. #### Spirit of Rebellion At 6th level, your other self gains more autonomy, still sharing your turn but now having its own Action, Bonus Action, Movement, and Reaction. Additionally you gain resistance to the Psychic damage that you take from your Other Self. \columnbreak
#### Tactical Study At 10th level, when choosing a signature form or preparing studied forms, you may choose to add resistance to one damage type. If you add a resistance, you must add a weakness from the same rarity. For every resistance added, that form gains vulnerability to a type of damage as shown on the *damage types by rarity* table below. If you choose a resistance this way, you can substitute that damage type in for any attack your other self makes. ##### damage types by rarity | Rarity | Type |:------------|:----------- | Common | Bludgeoning, Piercing, Slashing | Uncommon | Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, Poison, Thunder | Rare | Force, Psychic, Radiant, Necrotic #### Arcana Burst At 14th level when you finish preparing a list of studied forms, you can create a fused form that combines features of other studied forms. You can take individual attributes, traits, actions, bonus actions, reactions, or any other aspect of a monster stat block from each of the forms you are fusing together. You can fuse up to three forms into one. If you take resistances from a form, you take the weaknesses from the same form. You can take these qualities from each form you fuse, and they commingle: if you have resistances and weaknesses to the same damage from different forms, they cancel out; if all three forms share a resistance, it becomes an immunity; if all three forms share a weakness, damage rolls of that type against you are considered maximal. To determine how to summon this form, add the challenge ratings of the forms you combined together to approximate the level of your form. You can create fused forms of a challenge rating equal to double the highest level of your Mystic Arcanum. Forms fused together this way cannot be summoned individually (except for your signature form.) After you summon a fused form, you cannot summon that form again until you take a long rest. \pagebreak ### Eldritch Invocations #### All-out Attack *Prerequisite: Velvet Room patron* Whenever you or your other self deals a critical hit or vulnerable damage to a creature, that creature must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC or be knocked prone. If the creature is knocked prone, adjacent allies can use their reactions to make an attack of opportunity against the creature. #### Baton Pass *Prerequisite: Velvet Room patron* Whenever you or your other self deals a critical hit or vulnerable damage to a creature, you may choose an ally within 30 feet to take an additional turn. During this turn, the chosen ally can either take an action or a bonus action, not both. Regardless of the creature's abilities or magic items, it can't make more than one melee or ranged attack during its turn. #### Beneath the Mask *Prerequisite: Velvet Room patron* You let your other self take over completely. When you summon your signature form, you can instead choose to transform into your signature form, treating it as a fusion form between you and your signature form, following all the rules of fusion as described under Arcana Burst. #### Calling Card *Prerequisite: Velvet Room patron* As an action, you may make an Intimidation (Charisma) against the creature's Insight (Wisdom) check. If you succeed, you may expend a spell slot and choose one *Uncommon* or *Rare* damage type from the *damage types by rarity* table. The creature becomes vulnerable to that damage, unless it was immune or resistant, in which case it loses that quality. \columnbreak #### Hold Up *Prerequisite: Velvet Room patron* When a creature dies within 60 feet of you, you can use your reaction to make a Persuasion (Charisma) check against the creature's Insight (Wisdom). If you succeed, you can learn its attributes and immediately add it to your list of studied form for the day. #### Last Surprise *Prerequisite: Velvet Room patron, 7th level, eldritch blast cantrip* You can cast your *eldritch blast* through your other self and change its damage type as described by your *tactical study* feature. #### Party Switch *Prerequisite: Velvet Room patron* While you have a studied form summon, you can expend your action and the action of your other self to switch which form you have summoned to a different form of equal or lesser challenge rating. You may use this feature once per short rest. #### Third Eye *Prerequisite: Velvet Room patron, 7th level* You gain advantage on Perception checks and can cast *Detect Magic* at will.
