Rewording of two-weapon fighting
* Text of the weapon property 'Light':
Light. A light weapon is small and easy to handle, making it ideal for use when fighting with two weapons. When you take the Attack action and attack with a light melee weapon that you're holding in one hand, as a bonus action you can attack with a different light weapon that you're holding in another hand. You don't add your ability modifier to the damage of this attack, unless that modifier is negative.
Additionally, when you draw or stow a weapon as part of another action, you can draw or stow two weapons if both of them are light.
Changes:
- Moved dual-drawing/stowing here.
- Reworded dual-swinging as a property of light weapons, rather than RAW's approach: a separate rule that only applies to light weapons─while the light property doesn't have any rules. It's nonsensical.
* Text of the 'Two-Weapon Fighting' rules:
Fighting With Two Weapons
Normally, fighting with a weapon in each hand doesn't provide any benefits beyond the versatility of being able to attack with either if they have different properties, and it being harder to effectively disarm you.
There are some features that work when wielding two weapons, though, and light weapons have special rules when you are wielding one on each hand. See the rules for light weapons in chapter 5.
Changes:
- Explained the real in-game benefits of wielding two weapons (i.e.: that you wield two weapons, that's all).
* Text of the 'Dual Wielder' feat:
Dual Wielder
You master fighting with two weapons, gaining the following benefits:
- You gain a +1 bonus to AC while you are wielding a separate melee weapon in each hand.
- One-handed melee weapons are light weapons for you.
Changes:
- None actually, just reworded it.
Actual changes to two-weapon fighting
* Text of the weapon property 'Light':
Light. A light weapon is small and easy to handle, making it ideal for use when fighting with two weapons. When you take the Fight action and attack with a light weapon that you're holding in one hand, as part of the same action you can attack with a different light weapon that you're holding in another hand. You don't add your ability modifier to the damage of this attack, unless that modifier is negative.
Additionally, when you draw or stow a weapon as part of another action, you can draw or stow two weapons if both of them are light.
Changes:
- Removed the melee only restriction. If I can dual-wield daggers, why can't I dual-wield darts, damnit.
- Removed the bonus action cost that screws dual-wielding action economy up and makes it suck, to leave it more or less on par with other options.
- Yes, I rename the Attack action 'the Fight action', attack rolls 'to-hit rolls', and actions 'normal actions'. That'd be a good idea for 6E, dontcha think. Giving game terms names that are actually clear and don't cause confusion.
