Scarpanid Family

The Scarpanids are a strange species of insects inhabiting PNF-404 that were once ground-dwelling creatures whose only distinguishing feature was weak, purposeless wings. Eventually, these insects involved other stranger means of flying, and use this to their advantage to harass smaller creatures on the ground. Their intentions are mysterious, as they do not receive any obvious benefit from their actions, but they still persist with their instincts.

Swooping Snitchbug

The Swooping Snitchbug is a large, green, ovular insect with two spindly arms, two red compound eyes, and two enormous antennae. These antennae resemble the veins of leaves and also function as the Swooping Snitchbug's wings, vibrating very quickly to allow the insect to hover around 20 feet off the ground.

Smashin'. The Snitchbug attacks by swooping down to the ground, grabbing a creature, and then hurling it back against the ground. It is not understood why the Swooping Snitchbug, as it does not feed off of whatever creature it assails (nor does it have any orifices to do so), so its motivations are a mystery.

Careening Dirigibug

The Careening Dirigibug is an even stranger specimen than the Snitchbug. Similar in shape, it's possesses a slightly darker green hue, large yellow eyes, and a set of sharp mandibles. It's most notable characteristic are the inflatable organs that allow it to float that mysteriously resemble rubber balloons which pop when the creature dies.

Bombs Away. It's means of attack are also strange - the mandibles are able to constantly produce bomb rocks, which it tosses on the ground to blow up foes. Similarly to the Snitchbug, the Careening Dirigibug does not seem to benefit from this at all, but its ability to blow up foes makes it very dangerous.
