Path of the Bloodrager

The Path of the Bloodrager is a path of self-discovery and mastery of innate powers, yet to emerge. Many tribes revere the power of the ancestors and earthly spirits; however, barbarians on this path understand that their true power comes from within.

Bloodrage

Starting at 3rd level, the eldritch blood that runs through your veins begins to manifest. You gain an intuitive grasp of spellcasting that allows you to lash out in explosive displays of power and physical prowess.

Blood Points. Your access to this power is represented by a pool of Blood Points. You have a maximum number of Blood Points equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of one). To cast one of your sorcerer spells of 1st level or higher, you must expend a number of Blood Points equal to the spell's level. You can only expend Bloodpoints while you are raging and you regain any expended Blood Points when you finish a long rest.

Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher. You know three 1st-level spells of your choice from the sorcerer spell list. The Spells Known column of the Bloodrager Spellcasting table shows when you learn more sorcerer spells of your choice of 1st level and higher. A spell you choose must be of a level no higher than what's shown in the table's Spell Level column for your level. When you reach 13th level, for example, you learn a new sorcerer spell, which can be 1st, 2nd, or 3rd level.

Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the sorcerer spells you know with another spell of your choice from the sorcerer spell list. The spell must be of a level that you can cast as indicated by the Spell Level column of the Bloodrager Spellcasting table.

Spellcasting while Raging. When you cast a spell using this feature, it requires no material components unless they are consumed by the spell. While raging, you can only concentrate on spells that only target you.

Spellcasting Ability. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for your sorcerer spells. You use your Constitution whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Constitution modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a sorcerer spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell Save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus +

Indomitable Surge

When you choose this path at 3rd level, you can tap deep into a reservoir of buried rage. When you enter your rage, you regain a number of Blood Points equal to half your proficiency bonus (rounded up).

Embodied Magic

Also at 3rd level, you become instinctively aware of magic that affects you. You know the school of magic of spells or magical effects that target you, if any.

Additionally, you can manifest this awareness and project it as a reaction, gaining one of the following benefits:

  • When you make an ability check or saving throw that uses Charisma, you add your Constitution modifier to the roll.
  • After you take damage from a spell or magical effect, you gain temporary hit points equal to your level in this class, which are lost when your rage ends.
  • When you fail a saving throw for a spell or magical effect that imposes one or more conditions, you suffer one level of exhaustion instead of one of the conditions. The remaining effects occur as normal.

You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. While you are raging, you can instead expend a Blood Point to use this reaction.

Potent Vigor

At 6th level, you add your Rage Damage to the damage you deal with any spell you cast using your Bloodrage feature.

Deep Veins

Beginning at 10th level, when you cast a spell using your Bloodrage feature and you expend more Blood Points than the level of the spell, the spell assumes a higher level for that casting. The level of the spell is the number of Blood Points you expend.

Additionally, you regain any expended Blood Points when you finish a short rest.

Frenzied Magic

At 14th level, you can make one weapon attack whenever you cast a spell using your Bloodrage feature.
