# Sorcerous Origin: Preternatural ## Preternatural Sorcerers of this origin tend to have very general sources of magic compared to other sorcerers. Perhaps you were exposed to a massive amount of raw arcane energy as a child, or are the descendant of a wizard so powerful his lineage was forever imbedded with magic. Whatever the origin of your powers, arcane energy exudes from you constantly as a result of them. You harness the immense arcane magic flowing through you to utilize a variety of magical abilities. While preternatural sorcerers are typically a rare find, it is occasionally possible that the preternatural talent is passed down a widespread bloodline. ### Fountain of Magic Starting at 1st level, you gain the cantrip Prestidigitation with a few additional effects: - The range increases to 30 feet. - You can create an instantaneous sound that originates from a point of your choice within range, such as a snapping twig, the howl of a wolf, or an abruptly ended scream. - When lighting or snuffing out fire, you may light/snuff out as many fires as you wish within range. Alternatively, you may cause said flames to flicker, brighten, dim, or change color for the duration. - Colors, marks, and symbols created by this spell last until dispelled. - Trinkets created by this spell last until brought out of the spells range or until dispelled with an action. You can’t have more than one trinket created at a time. - Illusory images created by this spell last for the duration or until dispelled with an action. You can’t have more than one image created at a time. This cantrip reflects your ability to create a multitude of nifty magical effects, and does not count against your cantrips known. At 5th level, this cantrip can be cast without verbal and somatic components. ### Hover When you choose this origin at 1st level, you gain the ability to freely hover 1 foot in the air. You may assume any pose while hovering. Increase your base movement speed by 5 feet, ignore movement penalties of difficult terrain, and use charisma to calculate jumps (which are essentially magical boosts) while you hover. This feature does not prevent you from being knocked prone, reduce falling damage, or have any other benefit beyond what is explained above. If you attempt to hover more than 1 foot in the air, you immediately fall. \columnbreak ### Soul of Sorcery At 6th level, you learn an additional metamagic. You also increase your sorcerer point maximum by 3 additional points. Increase your maximum by 1 additional point at levels 9, 13, and 17. ### Teleport Starting at 14th level, you can instantaneously teleport as your movement. Once per turn, you can teleport at a distance up to your speed to an unoccupied space that you can see. Any distance before/after teleporting may be covered as normal so long as your total movement does not exceed your speed. ### Preternatural Power At 18th level, your soul can be fully opened to your magical power for short amounts of time. You spend a bonus action and 5 sorcery to transform into an unstoppable force of pure arcane energy. While in this form, you cannot be killed and cannot be forced to fail death saves. Additionally, you gain the benefits of the haste spell, but may also cast cantrips with your additional action. After this form wears off, you suffer the drawbacks of the slow spell for 1 round as you regain your composure from burning so much of your energy all at once. This form lasts for 1 minute and can only be used once per long rest.
