## Monk ### Way of the Hungry Spirit Monks of the Way of the Hungry Spirit know the value of a good meal prepared with love. They use their skill and knowledge of food to feed the souls of their companions and themselves. Well-prepared and flavorful food empowers the ki of all creatures, enabling them to reach their full potential. Monks of this tradition can come from any background, provided that they come from a love of food, and have the desire to master their craft. They likely spent time in kitchens under genius chefs, around campfires roasting the fruits of a hunt, or in silent contemplation on expansive farmlands. #### Culinary Training At 3rd level, your knowledge of culinary preparation grants you proficiency with *cook's utensils*, and you may add double your proficiency bonus on any check you make using them. Additionally, you have advantage on any Intelligence or Wisdom ability checks made to find, gather, or harvest food from your surroundings. #### Hungry Technique With your propensity for cooking and camaraderie, your food takes on exceptional properties. Beginning at 3rd level, you can use your action to prepare a small bundle of food by expending 1 ki point. Each food item can be consumed as a bonus action, and loses any potency if not eaten within 1 minute. ___ > ***Mighty Boiled Egg.*** When a creature consumes this egg, they can add 1d4 to any attack roll made before the beginning of their next turn. > > ***Hearty Rice Ball.*** When a creature consumes this rice, they regain a number of hit points equal to 1d4 + your Wisdom modifier (a minimum of 1). > > ***Skillful Salted Nuts.*** When a creature consumes these nuts, they can add 1d4 + your Wisdom modifier (a minimum of 1) to one ability check within the next minute. \columnbreak ___ At higher levels, the potency of your food increases. The maximum amount of ki points you can spend to enhance a food bundle, is determined by your monk level.
| Monk Level | Maximum Ki Points | |:---:|:-----------:| | 5 | 2 | | 9 | 3 | | 13 | 4 | | 17 | 5 | | Ki Points Spent | Efficacy of Food | |:---:|:-----------:| | 2 | 1d6 | | 3 | 2d4 | | 4 | 2d6 | | 5 | 2d8 |
When a creature has benefited from one of your food bundles, they can not benefit from that same type of food again until they complete a long rest. #### Balanced Breakfast Beginning at 6th level, you can make and consume a special meal as part of a short or long rest. You can gain the following benefits until you complete a short or long rest. ***Rotundity.*** A heavy meal rich in flavor and protein temporarily grants you a rounder and sturdier form. Your weight and carrying capacity are both doubled. Additionally you have advantage on any ability checks or saving throws to resist being moved against your will or knocked prone. ***Leanness.*** A light refreshing meal consumed with restraint temporarily grants you an uncanny flexibility and agility. Your weight is halved, and you can contort to fit into spaces that normally only a creature one size smaller than yourself could occupy. Additionally, you have advantage on any ability checks or saving throws to resist being grappled or restrained. ___ #### Impose Famine Your knowledge of digestion and energy combined with your ability to manipulate the ki of other creatures enable you to further influence your enemies. Beginning at 11th level, whenever you hit a creature with a monk weapon or unarmed strike, you can expend 2 ki points to induce them with a cloying hunger that disrupts their concentration. Any time in the next minute that the creature makes an attack roll, ability check or saving throw, you can use your reaction to roll your martial arts die and subtract the total from their result. At the end of each of the affected creature's turns for the duration, they can make a Constitution saving throw in order to shrug off the effect. ___ #### Insatiable Energy While your *timeless body* no longer require food for sustenance, your taste need not go to waste, and you are able to channel the additional energy from food into pure physical force. Beginning at 17th level, you can expend 3 ki points as a bonus action to enter an overcharged state. For 1 minute, you radiate intense bodily heat in a 5-foot radius. You can choose to burn harder, with the radius increasing by 5 feet per additional ki point spent to a maximum of 20 feet. The first time a creature enters the heat or starts its turn there, it takes fire damage equal to 1d6 + your Constitution modifier. When you use this feature, you can designate a number of creatures equal to your Wisdom modifier who are immune to the intense heat (a minimum of 1). ___
