Rogue: Secret Santa

Roguish Archetype

At 3rd level, the rogue gains the Roguish Archetype feature. The following option is available to a rogue, in addition to those offered in the Player's Handbook.

Secret Santa

Secret Santas are initiates of a clandestine elven organization dedicated to peace and goodwill by any means necessary. Members of this group augment their skills with subtle magic and execute elaborate plans to distribute presents and coal to those who deserve them. Just as good children may find an unexpected treat in their pocket or in their homes, many an evil tyrant has woken up to find a lump of coal left by a Secret Santa who infiltrated their lair.

Rogue Level Feature
3rd Toymaker, White Elephant
9th Detect Naughty and Nice, Up on the Rooftop
13th Wish List
17th Holiday Spirit

Toymaker

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in two sets of artisan's tools of your choice.

White Elephant

Starting at 3rd level, you learn that it is better to give than to receive. You can use the bonus action granted by your Cunning Action to make a Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check. You have advantage on these checks if you are attempting to leave an object somewhere.

If you make a successful Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check to leave a potion, poison, or other consumable item in a creature's pockets or in contact with its body, you can choose to have the item affect the creature as if it had consumed it. The item then disappears.

Detect Naughty and Nice

Starting at 9th level, you are able to judge at a glance whether a creature has been naughty or nice. As an action, choose one creature you can see within 60 feet of you. You immediately learn that creature's alignment, if it has one. If a creature is hidden from divination magic, you sense that the creature's alignment matches your own.

Up on the Rooftop

Also at 9th level, you learn the spells find steed, fly, and invisibility, and can cast them without expending material components. Once you cast one of these spells, you cannot cast it again using this feature until you complete a long rest.

Wish List

Starting at 13th level, you gain the ability to learn a creature's desires. As an action, choose one creature you can see within 60 feet of you. You immediately learn what item that creature desires most at that moment. This can be either a specific object (such as the Hand of Vecna) or a general category (such as a pony or a stiff drink).

Holiday Spirit

At 17th level, nothing can stop you from spreading holiday cheer. You gain the following benefits.

  • You gain resistance to fire damage and to damage from traps.
  • You count as being one size smaller for purposes of squeezing into tight spaces.
  • You can use the bonus action granted by your Cunning Action to consume a potion, cookie, or glass of milk.
