Rabbitfolk
Humanoid Bunnies
Rabbitfolk are rather odd. They were not born, but more-or-less made on total accident. The tale is as old as time and passed down through their clans. A wizard, experimenting with transmutation magic, created the first rabbitfolk. Shortly after, more were made. The intent was to have them as powerful soldiers, able to access locations no other race could with their powerful muscles and enhanced hearing. Naturally, the rabbitfolk escaped and started their own settlements and families.
Gigantic Families
Rabbitfolk are known for their closely knit and helpful families. A typical rabbitfolk child has several siblings, uncles, cousins and grandparents. This family is referred to as a “warren” by them. An entire rabbitfolk village can be populated by an extended family, belonging to only a few common ancestors. They can form fast friendships with anyone in the same village, but often struggle when trying to relate to others outside of their kind. As they were naturally fearful of other races since their creation, they’re yet to venture outside their comfy little towns.
Simple Lives
Being related to their more primal, less humanoid companions, rabbitfolk don’t live very glamorous lives. They are more suited to living as craftsmen, farmers and other similar uncomplicated occupations. Their propensity to stay in their warrens means that they aren’t common adventurers.
Superstitious Myths
Most rabbitfolk are told stories from a very young age about the outside world. It just so happens that such tales are less than true. When hunters spot a dragonborn out in the wilderness, they'll report that they heard a rumbling below the ground, finding a dragon sleeping in a cave. A caravan of humans passing the area is described as a train of blood-thirsty warriors ready to raid the village. Rabbitfolk have a natural tendency to over-exaggerate what is odd and unfamiliar. This leads to a culture of fearful xenophobia, causing many rabbitfolk to rarely leave their warrens.
