Otherworldly Patron

At 1st level, a warlock gains the Otherworldly Patron feature. The following is an additional option available to warlocks, in addition to those offered in the Player's Handbook and other published Wizards of the Coast works.

The Legion

Your patron is a vast and ancient army, that has existed across the ages as myth and legend. Warriors from every generation immemorial have devoted themselves in both life and death to service to the legion, as is now too your fate. Rather than a single entity, the legion is a collection of spirits, with single minded devotion toward achieving a cause. Perhaps the legion exists to suppress a dark curse upon the land, or to protect various sanctuaries across the world. Regardless of the legion's agenda, its seemingly endless ranks grants you power.

Expanded Spell List

The Legion lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

1st compelled duel, shield of faith
3rd enhance ability, phantasmal force

Bonus Proficiencies

At 1st level, you gain proficiency with medium armor, shields, and martial weapons.

Legionnaire's Magic

When you choose this patron at 1st level, the legion's might bolsters your spells. When a creature takes damage on your turn from a warlock spell you cast, you can use your bonus action to force the creature to succeed on a Dexterity saving throw against your warlock spell save DC or take an additional 1d6 force damage, as spectral weapons attack it.

When you reach 10th level in this class, the damage increases to 2d6, and the creature is knocked prone if it fails the save as it is toppled by the spectral weapons.

Rallying Spell

At 6th level, your spells hold the power to will your allies to action. When you cast a spell using a warlock spell slot, you can choose one creature within 60 feet of you that is allied with you. That creature gains temporary hit points equal to your warlock level and can immediately make one melee or ranged weapon attack with its reaction, provided that it can see or hear you.

Swift Counter

At 10th level, the strength of the legion protects you from your foes. When you take the Dodge action on your turn and a creature misses you with an attack before the effect ends, you can use your reaction to make a single weapon attack or cast a cantrip at the creature. The cantrip must have a casting time of 1 action and must target only that creature.

Summon Legion

At 14th level, you can entreat your patron to send you aid in times of need. As an action, you can summon spectral legionnaires that appear in unoccupied spaces that you can see within 30 feet of you.

Roll on the Legionnaire table to determine the number of legionnaire and the form they take.

Legionnaire
d8 Number and Form
1 5 Scouts
2 5 Thugs
3 4 Spies
4 3 Berserkers
5 3 Archers
6 2 Knights
7 2 Veterans
8 1 Gladiator

A summoned creature disappears after 1 minute, or when it drops to 0 hit points.

The summoned creatures are friendly to you and your companions. but do not necessarily obey your commands. Roll initiative for the summoned creatures as a group, which have their own turns.

The DM has the creatures' statistics.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.

Spells

This section offers a new cantrip available to warlocks.

Farron Flashsword

Evocation cantrip

  • Casting Time: 1 action
  • Range: 5 feet
  • Components: S, M (a spellcasting focus)
  • Duration: Instantaneous

You wreathe your spellcasting focus in a glowing aura of magic, creating a thin spectral blade of magical force at its tip. The blade is similar in size and shape to a shortsword. Make a melee spell attack with the blade. On a hit, the target takes 1d10 force damage.

The spell allows you to make more attacks when you reach higher levels: two attacks at 5th level, three attacks at 11th level, and four attacks at 17th level. You can direct the attacks at the same target or at different ones.

Eldritch Invocations

At 2nd level, a warlock gains the Eldritch Invocations feature. Here are new options for that feature, in addition to the options in the Player's Handbook and other published Wizards of the Coast works.

If an eldritch invocation has a prerequisite, you must meet it to learn the invocation. You can learn the invocation at the same time that you meet its prerequisite. A level prerequisite refers to your level in this class.

Legionnaire's Armor

You can cast mage armor once using a warlock spell slot. You can't do so again until you finish a long rest.

Additionally, when you cast mage armor, you can make the target's base AC become 16 + its Dexterity modifier (max 2).

Watchdog's Blade

Prerequisite: Farron flashsword cantrip

When you cast Farron flashsword, add your Charisma modifier to the damage it deals on a hit.
