Hero's Shield V.03

Description

The legends says that this shield was used by a great hero in the past, and that only they fought with only this shield and no other weapon, conquering and defeating every enemy that faced him. The shield is a buckler type shield, made of an iron-like material, with a green gem right in the middle. The gem does not seem to be removable.

Abilities

  • After finishing attunement the shield becomes tied to the soul of the user, becoming one with it. You lose all proficiency in weapons, and you are not able to use other weapons aside the shield, whom you're considered proficient in as a weapon. If you try and use another weapon aside the shield, a shockwave hits you for 1d8 force damage, and you need to make a Con saving throw DC20 or drop the weapon on the ground. In any case, each turn you have a weapon in your hand you continue to be damaged.
  • The shield is magic +1 shield. It can be used as a weapon, using both strenght and dexterity to hit and damage. The damage of the shied is 1d4 bludgeoning.
  • The DC for every ability given by the shield is calculated based on the strenghts of its user: DC: 8+prof+ Str or Dex
  • The gem at the center of the shield is in truth sentient, with an alignment True Neutral, and having 10 Int, 20 Wis and 10 Cha. It has hearing and darkvision 120 ft. The shield does not talk or read but understands common and is capable of show images of datas it has through its telepatic connection with its user.

Ability: Hateful Reaction

  • As a bonus action, every enemy within 30 ft is affected by the "compelled duel" spell. You can use this ability 3 times for shortrest

  • Configuration: You know only 3 of the following configurations. Each configuration has passive and active abilities, and lasts for 1 minute. After used, you need a Long rest to use any of the configurations.Each configuration is tied to materials of the sort. Giving such materials to the gem in the middle it can empower the configuration, and even unlock special abilities unknown at the moment

  • Ironshield(iron pipes, chains etc.) Passie: for the duration of this configuration, you gain resistance to slashing, piercing and bludgeoning damages. With a bonus action, you can create a cube made of shields tightly packed together anywhere within 30 ft of you. The cube is 5x5x5 ft. It can be destroyed, has 40hp and a AC 20. In any case, the cube disappears at the end of your next turn

  • Aberrantshield(materials gained by monsters) Passive: This shield gives advantage on all intimidation check against aberration, elementals, demons and monstruosity As an action, you can mimic an ability of a monster you've made your shield absorb. The shield retains some limitations on what it can and would like to mimick, and it cannot mimick abilities that reproduce spells.

  • Copyshield(weapon, armor, magic):Passive: This shield gives an ulterior +1 to AC. As a reaction when you see an attack withing 30 ft you can summon a shield that will block said attack. The shield will disappear at the end of the enemy's turn.

Awakened

This status can be archieved only when the user goes through a great grief. The loss of a loved one, death of someone close to him or a great loss in a fight, it changes a lot based on the user of the shield.

  • Hate Configuration: Passive: Whenever you're attacked with a melee weapon attack, and it misses, your shield bursts in a black flame, burning away your enemy and dealing fire damage equal your proficency modifier. The damage also reduces the maximum amount of hit points. You take also take the same amount of damage and hit point reduction. As an action, you can conjure what is an big metal statue wherever you want in 30 ft. Exalted

This status can be archieved only when the user is ready a lets go of its hatred, its revenge and goes on. The hate configuration trasforms and becomes Compassion

  • Compassion Configuration: Passive: You gain resistance to all attacks. Whenever a creature hits you with an attack, it takes radiant damage equal to half the damage you take from the attack. You can choose two passive abilities from any configuration, and they are considered ongoing. You can use any two active abilities, and you can use them while holding this configuration. You still need to abide its timing.
