Erugoganda - Devil's Spit Tree

The tree erugoganda, commonly known as "devil's spit", is a sentient tree that uses strong acids to weaken and dissolve it's prey so that it may consume it. The acid causes a painful burning sensation and can quickly dissolve organic matter. It's acid cannot dissolve magic items so they are occasionally found inside is huge trunk. It has many long vines that it uses to ensnare prey and a cavity at the top of it's trunk that it drops prey into to be dissolved.

The acid of a erugoganda is so strong that it can be used in cures for petrification

False Appearance. While the erugoganda remains motionless, it's indistinguishable from a normal tree, although it has no leaves or branches.

Rooted. The erugoganda has advantage on saves against being moved against its will.

Grasping Roots. The erugoganda has 6 roots that can be used to grapple a creature. Each tendril can be attacked (AC 16; 20 hit points), immunity to acid and psychic damage). Destroying a root deals no damage to the erugoganda, which can raise another root from the ground.

Actions

Multiattack. The erugoganda either makes 2 Root attacks and a Swallow attack if available or makes two Acid Spit attacks.

Root. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d8+5) bludgeoning damage plus 10 (3d6) acid damage and the target is grappled (escape DC 16). Until the grapple ends, the target is restrained.

Swallow The erugoganda swallows a large or smaller creature grappled by it. The swallowed creature is blinded, restrained and unable to breath and it must make a DC 14 Constitution save, taking 18 (4d8) acid damage on a failed save or half as much on a success. If the erugoganda moves, the swallowed creature moves with it. The erugoganda can only have one creature swallowed at a time.

If the erugoganda takes 20 damage or more in a single turn from a creature inside it, the erugoganda must make a DC 17 constitution saving throw at the end of its turn or regurgitate the swallowed creature, which falls prone in a space within 10 ft. of the erugoganda. If the erugoganda dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained and can climb out using 30 ft. of movement. The creature still takes damage at the start of its turns even if the erugoganda is dead.

Legendary Actions

The erugoganda can take 2 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time at the end of another creature's turn. The erugoganda regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Root. The erugoganda makes a root attack.
