Arcane Tradition: Alchemy
All wizards can appreciate the work of an apothecary. Wizards who practice alchemy as an Arcane School use there spells and spell books to create potions of variable levels, which allows them to support their team despite what happens to the wizard himself. Wizards learn to manipulate their spell and magic and weave them into powerful potions for all to use.
Ability Table:
| Level | Ability |
|---|---|
| 2nd | Potion creation |
| 6th | Healing potions |
| 10th | Specialized potions, Quickend potions |
| 14th | Alchemical acid |
Potion creation:
At 2nd level you have learned to temporarily spend you magic to create a potion. To make a potion you must have the material components for that spell, listed under each spell, along with a flask or container of water. After placing the the components for the spell in the flask, the components are destroyed, unless stated otherwise, and a spells slot is expended. Then a potion is created with that spells effect. Only two of the potion can exist at any one time, and each need to crafted individually. Should you use a higher spell slot than the standard, for example an See Invisibility potion would have the effects of the regular See Invisibility spell and cost a 2nd level slot, the potions effect will increase, this will cause the potion to function as an up-cast version of See Invisibility spell if you used a slot of 3rd or higher.
You can only create potions from the spells you know, that also have a range of self, or will grant the person who uses it an effect, such as Darkvision, Resistance, Advantage, ETC. An effect from a potion doesn't require concentration, and will take effect immediately after consumption, unless stated otherwise. The effect will not end until the duration ends, or until a dispell magic spell or something similar, is cast on the creature who drank it. The potions lose their potency after 48 hours; during this time you cannot regain their expended spell slots. These potions count as consumed or destroyed if someone, or something, uses it or the liquid is lost due to something like, the destruction of the bottle, evaporation or incineration, being watered down, ETC. However, after there destruction, consumption, or loss of potency, you will be able to regain your expended spells slots normally on your next long rest.
you also gain proficiency in Alchemist's Supplies if you do not already have it.
Healing potions:
starting at 6th level, you have gained the knowledge of vitality, You gain the Cure wounds spell and Lesser restoration spell only for the purpose of potion making, they cannot be cast normally, but they can be used via potions.
Heal replaces Cure wounds and Greater restoration replaces Lesser restoration at 12th level.
Additionally you can know have three potions exist at any one time.
Specialized potions :
Starting at 10th level, you have learned to master you alchemical abilities. You can now create a potion using any spell that you know, using the method in potion creation listed above. This allows whomever drinks the potion, the ability to cast the spell used to create it once. For example, should you drink a Dragons breath potion, you can use the Dragons breath spell once before the potion counts as consumed and loses its potency, The same rules of up-casting apply to this.
Additionally you can know have four potions exist at any one time, however only one of the potions can be Specialized.
Quickend potions:
You have learned to split your focus when creating potions. Each potion can be made simultaneously, as long as the other limitations are followed.
Alchemical acid:
At 14th level, you have figured out how to use you potion that have lost their potency. After a potion expires, it turns into an alchemical brew. This alchemical brew is essentially acid, 1 drop can burn though things similar an inch of steel in 1 minute. If a creature touches this they will take 10d12 Acid damage. This acid will loose its potency and become useless in 1d4 + Intelligence bonus days and will not burn though the material it is being stored in, this will very from potion to potion.
