Slime People Race Thingy

so, you are looking at a slime race for whatever reason, be it to judge the balance or to look for some neat race to fullfil that character idea, but the question is

how could this make sense in a world?

Where could sentient slimes come from?
So far what my brains have thought about is maybe they are a result of a water elemental blending with an ooze, some magical waste transformed you, maybe you stumbled upon a magic item that bestows intelligence or maybe they are a result of some spellcasters experiment, nevertheless, you are you and you exist in this cruel well, depending on campaing world.

Your Dexterity and constitution increase by 1

Age

Due to their physiology, slimes are effectively immortal

Gender

None, tho you basically choose if you appear as one gender or somethin

Size

Slimes are about the same size as regular humans, though their height and proportions tend to vary based on how they've shaped their bodies. Your size category is medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

Languages

Common

Ooze Nature.

Your creature type is both humanoid and ooze.
You don't require sleep
At the end of a long rest, you can change simple miscellaneous details about yourself such as your "hair's" length or shape, make yourself a bit taller, smaller, wider or thinner.

Liquid Existance

You are composed of a large amount of liquid and as such, you fare poorly in the burning environments.
You have disadvantage on saving throws against Extreme Heat or other heat or fire related saving throws, as well as you have a vulnerability to fire damage.
Additionally, being hurt by cold damage slows you down by 5 feet and you have disadvantage on dex saves for a turn.

Corrosive Form

Due to your naturally acidic body, you have resistance to acid damage

Feral Slime Sub-Race

Fluff

you are a more simple slime, your structure primarily that of a one large blob with a head, and two appendages as your arms, leaving slime all over the place wherever you go.
Due to this, you lack legs, making you incapable of wearing shoes and the like.
You also tend to be a simple being, finding joy in simple things, whatever they might be.

Ability Score

Your Strength increases by 1

Slimy monstrosity

When determining your carry capacity, you count one size category larger then usually. Additionally, once per long rest you can, as a bonus action, have your slimy body ooze out, increasing your size category by one and doubling your size, as well as giving you advantage on melee attack rolls and strength checks for 1 minute.

Simple State

Your body structure is simpler, more or less that of a drippy mass of slime with two appendages, also, by moving across surfaces you can break down otherwise inedible loose substances to garner nutritional value.

Ooze Body.

You have the ability to shapeshift into an oozing amorphous form, your size stays the same while changing, although you will drop all equipment you are carrying or wearing by doing so.
While you are in this ooze form, you cannot be restrained, and you can move through spaces as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing.

Water Dilution.

While you are in deep water, you take 1d8 necrotic damage for every 5 feet of swimming movement.
Additionally, If you start your turn in a body of water, such as a lake, an ocean, or even outdoors in the rain, you take 1 necrotic damage at the start of each of your turns, which doubles for each cumulative turn you take damage from this effect of this trait.
Getting out of the situation that damages you resets the damage increasement.
If your hit points are less then half of your hit point maximum when you take damage from this trait, your speed is halved and you are considered to be poisoned until your hit points are restored to over half your hit point maximum.
Finally, if you are reduced to 0 hit points by this trait, you die.

Fluidic Body

Your square counts as if the spell Grease has been cast in it, and this effect ends when you leave a square and renews itself at the end of your turn.
Additionally, you are immune to the spell Grease.

Engulf-Ablelity/Stickyness (this name sucks, I know)

Being a creature of gelatinous slime you are naturally sticky. You have advantage on Strength (Athletics) checks made to grapple a target.

Drown

while you are grappling an enemy, you can start attempting to drown them within your body/hands. Doing so takes both of your arms, requiring you to drop or store anything that you might be holding.

Solid Slime Sub-Race

Fluff

You are a slime that looks far more like your everyday Humanoid, due to your outermost surface being covered in a layer of sorts, preventing you from oozing all over everything, as well as due to your more thinkitive mind allowing you to focus your shape better.
Solid slimes tend to be quit social, enjoying talking with people, though their enjoyment of changing their appearance at times makes can make things more complicated between people.

Ability Score

Your Charisma increases by 1

Speed

due to your form being more compact, your walking speed is 30 instead of the base 25.

Compaction

Once per long rest you can, as a bonus action, compact your slime body even further, reducing your size category by 1, as well as increase your Armour Class by 1 and give you advantage on stealth checks for a minute.

Water Dilution.

While you are in deep water, you take 1d4 necrotic damage for every 5 feet of swimming movement.
Additionally, If you start your turn in a body of water, such as a lake, an ocean, or even outdoors in the rain, you take X amount of damage necrotic damage, where the number the X is starts at 0, and every other turn you start in water, it increases by one.
Getting out of the situation that damages you resets the damage increasement.
If your hit points are less then half of your hit point maximum when you take damage from this trait, your speed is halved and you are considered to be poisoned until your hit points are restored to over half your hit point maximum.
Finally, if you are reduced to 0 hit points by this trait, you die.

Solid Body

Your slimy body is far more solid than that of most of your brethren, allowing you to take on a more complex form, perfectly mimicking the Shape of humanoids.
Wue to this, you are fully capable of wearing all articles of clothings that any other humanoid could wear, as well as you gain +1 ac.

Imaginitive Mind

When using your Ooze Nature ability to change some detail of you, you may also freely change your coloration.
Additionally, you gain proficiency in Disguise kit, and while using it, you have an advantage to hide your identity.

Shock Proof Layer

Due to the layer covering your body, you have resistance to lighting damage.
