College of Storms

Bards of the College of Storms learn less from other performers and more by listening to the rhythms of the skies. They use their intuitive magic to sing and dance with storms.

Bards of the College of Storms are often called Stormsingers or Stormdancers, and are known not only for their startling performances, but also for their effects on local ecology, for better or worse.

Storm Dancer

After performing for at least one minute, you may cause a storm to start brewing. During this performance, a light rainshower forms. If you continue this performance for 10 minutes, the shower turns into a heavy thunderstorm. This storm lasts for 1 hour when you end your performance.

While performing, you may use weather phenomena to provide aesthetic emphasis, such as background lightning during a spooky story, or a breeze during a chase scene.

Whenever you roll lightning or thunder damage during stormy weather conditions, choose one damage die and set it to its maximum value.

Inspired Bolts

When you join the College of Storms at 3rd level, you gain the ability to sing lightning from the sky.

As a bonus action, spend a Bardic Inspiration die and choose a point you can see within 60 feet. Each creature in a 10 foot radius of that point must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Spell Save DC. A creature that fails the save takes 2d6 lightning damage or half as much on a success.

This lightning damage increases to 3d6 at 5th level, 4d6 at 10th level, and 5d6 at 15th level.

Electric Slide

At 6th level you learn to be carried by the song of storms.

As an Action, you may teleport to an unoccupied space within 60 feet that you can see. When you arrive, each creature within 10 feet of you must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 4d8 lightning damage on a failure or half as much on a success.

You regain use of this ability upon completion of a short or long rest.

During stormy weather conditions your movement speed increases by 10 feet and your jump height increases by 3 feet.

Chorus of the Storm

At 14th level you learn to orchestrate shifting patterns of lightning. As an Action, choose three points you can see within 60 feet of each other. Lines of lightning arc between these points. If a creature crosses one of these lines for the first time on a turn, that creature must make a Dexterity saving throw. If it fails, it is dealt 4d8 lightning damage.

As a bonus action, you may move these points up to 20 feet each.

This effect lasts for up to 1 minute as if you were concentrating on a spell.
