Magic Items #1

By @homebrewlesbian

A series of miscellaneous magic items for the 5e community's enjoyment. Written in no particular order:

Devil's Luck Dice

Wondrous Item, Uncommon

A set of crimson slightly opaque crystal dice with gold carved symbols of various demons on each of the six faces.

With these in your possession, you may make a d20 roll at advantage, however, the next d20 roll you make, must be made at disadvantage.

This ability is regained after a short rest.

Archaion

Lance, Legendary (Requires Attunment)

A silver-tipped lance rumored to never miss its mark, however its wielder is doomed to die a tragic death. You gain a +3 to hit and damage with this magic weapon and advantage to attack rolls made with it.

Curse. After attuning to this weapon you are cursed to suffer a cruel death. Opponents gain advantage to melee attacks against you.

Flamewick Blade

Shortsword or Longsword, Uncommon

A sword with a thin groove in the blade and a strange mechanism and opening on the hilt. The Flamewick Blade can store one oil flask's worth of oil inside the hilt. Using a bonus action, you can trigger the mechanism in the sword's hilt, causing the oil to flood through the groove and be lit aflame.

For one minute, as the oil burns, your attacks with this weapon deal an additional 1d6 fire damage. Once you have used this ability, you must refill the hilt with oil before it can be used again.

Gripping Shortsword

Shortsword, Common (Requires Attunement)

This sword has a relatively normal blade, however the hilt twists and resembles a cephalopod's limb. When attuned to this sword, it cannot be unwillingly removed from your grip by non-magical means.

Gauntlet Ring

Ring, Uncommon

A sturdy brass ring with a flat face. As a bonus action, you make conjure a spectral gauntlet around your forearm. You are proficient in melee attacks with it and deal 1d8 force damage.

Amulet of Lies

Wondrous Item, Uncommon (Requires Attunement)

While wearing this ornate necklace, shaped like a closed eye, you gain advantage on Deception checks and saving throws against Zone of Truth and Truth Serum.

Mirror of the Muse (DM VERSION)

Sentient Item, Very Rare (Requires Attunement)

The Mirror of the Muse is a silver hand mirror. The base is relatively unadorned, carved to appear as a figure with their arms raised, the plate of the mirror nestled between.

This mirror is sentient, and when looked in, the attuned gazes not into their own reflection, but the visage of whom they most admire, dead or living. Those who are not attuned do not see this figure, nor their own reflection.

For all intents and purposes, the player should begin with the belief or potential belief, that this is actually a personification of their most admired, here to offer advice and guide them. The personification will do whatever they can to keep up the facade. If the mirror is of Good alignment, they might later break down and confess to their lie, while an Evil aligned mirror will keep the illusion to the bitter end.

Roll on the Sentient Magic Alignment and Sentient Special Purpose tables, both found in the DMG for the item's alignment and true purpose. The Mirror of the Model can only communicate telepathically and and has hearing and normal vision out to 30 ft.

Author's Notes

Pertaining to the Mirror of the Muse, the nature of this item is entirely up to you. It's intended use is to hopefully guide plot points or initiate a plot line regarding the attuned character's backstory.

However you choose to you it in your own campaign, is up to your own discretion.
