Homebrew Druid Circle
Circle of Beauty
Circle of Beauty druids believe their goal is to spread joy and love across the world using their elemental magic in performances. Using their elemental magic combined with the essence of performing and entertaining, makes these druids the perfect people to have a fun time with. Their vision is to make the world a better place in and of itself, but also to bend minds and entertain spirits.
Quick Build
You can make a Circle of Beauty druid quickly by following these suggestions. First, Wisdom should be your highest ability score, followed by Charisma and then Constitution. Second, choose the entertainer or courtesan background.
Circle of Beauty Features
| Druid Level | Feature |
|---|---|
| 2nd | Performing Nature, Bardic Spellcasting, Alluring Elements |
| 6th | Stunning Beauty |
| 10th | Ethereal Charm |
| 14th | Dryad's Favor |
Performing Nature
When you join the Circle of Beauty, you can choose two extra skill proficiencies from Acrobatics, Deception, Insight, Intimidation, Perception, Performance, Persuasion or Sleight of Hand. In order to perform, you also learn 1 proficiency in either singing, a flute, a horn or a panflute.
Bardic Spellcasting
At 2nd level, your spellcasting becomes different from other circles of druids. Along with the magic of nature, you know how to entertain others. You gain access to the bard spell list. This has the following effects on your spellcasting ability.
Cantrips
When you first join the Circle of Beauty, you learn an additional Druidcraft cantrip, which you can't replace when you level up. You can also replace the 2 other cantrips you already have to new cantrips from the druid or bard spell list. When you learn new cantrips from the Cantrips Known column of the Druid table, you can choose them from the druid or bard spell list.
Preparing and Casting Spells.
The Druid table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your spells of 1st lever and higher. To cast spells, you must expend a slot of the spell's level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.
You can prepare both druid and bard spells that are available for you to cast, choosing from those spell lists. When you do so, choose a number of spells equal to your Wisdom modifier + your druid level (minimum of one spell). The spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
For example: if you are a 3rd-level druid, you have four 1st-level and two 2nd-level spell slots. With a Wisdom of 16, your list of prepared spells can include six druid or bard spells of 1st or 2nd level, in any combination. If you prepare the 1st-level spell cure wounds, you can cast it using a 1st-level or 2nd-level slot. Casting the spell doesn't remove it from your list of prepared spells.
You can also change your list of prepared spells when you finish a long rest. Preparing a new list of druid or bard spells requires time spend in prayer and meditation: at least 1 minute per spell level for each spell on your list.
Spellcasting ability
In order to cast bard spells, you can't use your wisdom as your spellcasting ability. Instead you also have to rely on your Charisma to cast a bardic spell. In addition, you use your Charisma modifier when setting the saving throw DC for the bardic spells you cast when making an attack with one.
| Druidic spellcasting |
| Spell save DC = 8 + proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier. |
| Bardic Spellcasting |
| Spell save DC = 8 + proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier. |
Ritual Casting
You can cast a bard or druid spell as a ritual if that spell has the ritual tag and you have the spell prepared.
Spellcasting Focus
You can choose to keep your spellcasting focus for both bard and druid spells or flavor along with your druidic focus the musical talent of your singing or a small musical instrument (i.e. flute, horn or pan flute).
Alluring Elements
As a Circle of Beauty Druid, the use of elemental magic in your performances or charisma is able to bend the mind of various creatures, starting at 2nd level.
When you use Druidcraft, Wild Shape or other bardic or druidic spells to enhance your charisma or performance, you can charm humanoids or beasts that you can see within 30 feet. You can target a number of creatures equal to half of your druid level (rounded down). All targeted creatures have to make a Wisdom saving throw against your Bardic Spell save DC to resist the effects.
If a target fails the saving throw, it is charmed by you for a number of hours equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1 hour) or until you or your companions do anything harmful to it. The charmed creature regards you as a friendly acquaintance. You can give it small commands, as long as it sounds reasonable to the target. Asking the creature to do something obviously self-harmful ends the charm. When the charm ends because of harm or a wrongful command, the creature knows it was charmed by you, otherwise it isn't aware of your enchantment.
If a target successfully saves against the effect, or if the effect on it ends, the target is immune to your charm for the next 24 hours. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest, but you can only have one group of targets under your charm at the same time.
Stunning Beauty
At 6th level, you can use your elemental beauty and charm in combat against opponents. As a bonus action, you can make a Charisma (Performance) check against a humanoid you can see that isn't incapacitated, contested by the target's Wisdom (Insight) check.
If you succeed, the target becomes paralyzed until the end of your next turn. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (a minimum of once). You regain any expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Ethereal Charm
At 10th level, you've learned to bend your Alluring Elements charm even further and it has become more ethereal and magical. When you successfully charm a target, you have established not only a real life connection, but also a telepathic one. You can give telepathic commands to the target when the creature is within 60 feet of range from you.
The target obeys your verbal or telepathic commands and believes everything that you tell them as they idolize you or fall madly in love with you. If you or your allies harm the creature, it doesn't automatically end the charm but the target can repeat their saving throw. If the target receives a self harming or suicidal command, it can also repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on a success.
Dryad's Favor
At level 14, you know to tap into the elements of nature to get a prophetic dream. Once per long rest, you can spend 10 minutes meditating alone by either playing a musical instrument or quietly singing. When you finished the 10 minutes of your meditation, you will receive a special dream during the next long rest.
This prophetic dream depicts an event in a literal or symbolic sense that may be in your future. This dream could warn you of possible danger, inform you of a person you should meet that day, give you a unique spell for the day, guide you to make a good decision or whatever the DM sees fit. However, there is a 20% chance that the dream does not come true at all.
