# SCAG Expanded Melee Cantrips This is an expanded spell list based on the cantrips present in Sword Coast Adventure's Guide, available for Sorcerers, Warlocks, Wizards, and my own homebrew class Battlemage. #### Bonebreaker Blade *Transmutation cantrip* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** 5 feet - **Components:** V, M (a weapon) - **Duration:** 1 round ___ As part of the action used to cast this spell, you must make a melee attack with a weapon against one creature within the spell's range, otherwise the spell fails. On a hit, the target suffers the attack's normal effects, and its bones weaken and crack until the start of your next turn. If the target takes a reaction before then, it immediately takes piercing damage equal to your spellcasting ability modifier, and the spell ends. This spell's damage increases when you reach higher levels. At 5th level, the melee attack deals an extra 1d8 piercing damage to the target, and the damage the target takes for taking a reaction increases to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier. Both damage rolls increase by 1d8 at 11th level and 17th level. #### Corrosive Blade *Evocation cantrip* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** 5 feet - **Components:** V, M (a weapon) - **Duration:** 1 round ___ As part of the action used to cast this spell, you must make a melee attack with a weapon against one creature within the spell's range, otherwise the spell fails. On a hit, the target suffers the attack's normal effects and it falls prone in a pool of acid until the start of your next turn. If the target ends its turn in the same location where you hit it, the target takes acid damage equal to your spellcasting ability modifier, as the acid start to corrodes its body, and the spell ends. This spell's damage increases when you reach higher levels. At 5th level, the melee attack deals an extra 1d8 acid damage to the target, and the damage the target takes for not moving increases to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier. Both damage rolls increase by 1d8 at 11th level and 17th level.
#### Crippling Blade *Evocation cantrip* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** 5 feet - **Components:** V, M (a weapon) - **Duration:** 1 round ___ As part of the action used to cast this spell, you must make a melee attack with a weapon against one creature within the spell's range, otherwise the spell fails. On a hit, the target suffers the attack's normal effects, and it is crippled until the start of your next turn. If the target performs a Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check before then, the target takes slashing damage equal to your spellcasting ability modifier, and the spell ends. This spell's damage increases when you reach higher levels. At 5th level, the melee attack deals an extra 1d8 slashing damage to the target, and the damage the target takes for performing the checks increases to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier. #### Death Reaper Blade *Necromancy cantrip* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** 5 feet - **Components:** V, M (a weapon) - **Duration:** 1 round ___ As part of the action used to cast this spell, you must make a melee attack with a weapon against one creature within the spell's range, otherwise the spell fails. On a hit, the target suffers the attack’s normal effects, and dark energy invades its body until the start of your next turn. If the target dies before then, all hostile creatures within 5ft of it take necrotic damage equal to your spellcasting ability modifier, as the corpse explodes in a burst of negative energy, and the spell ends. This spell’s damage increases when you reach higher levels. At 5th level, the melee attack deals an extra 1d8 necrotic damage to the target, and the damage all hostile creatures takes for being close to the target when it dies increases to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier. If the target performs more than one melee or ranged weapon attack, unarmed attacks included, before then, it immediately takes cold damage equal to your spellcasting ability modifier, and the spell ends. This spell's damage increases when you reach higher levels. At 5th level, the melee attack deals an extra 1d8 cold damage to the target, and the damage the target takes performing more than one attack increases to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier. Both damage rolls increase by 1d8 at 11th level and 17th level.
#### Mighty Blade *Evocation cantrip* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** 5 feet - **Components:** V, M (a weapon) - **Duration:** Instantaneous ___ As part of the action used to cast this spell, you must make a melee attack with a weapon against one creature within the spell's range, otherwise the spell fails. On a hit, the target suffers the attack's normal effects, and it is pushed 10 feet away from you. If the target collides with something or someone, it takes bludgeoning damage equal to your spellcasting ability modifier. This spell's damage increases when you reach higher levels. At 5th level, the melee attack deals an extra 1d8 bludgeoning damage to the target, and the damage the target takes for colliding increases to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier. Both damage rolls increase by 1d8 at 11th level and 17th level. #### Moonlight Blade *Evocation cantrip* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** 5 feet - **Components:** V, M (a weapon) - **Duration:** 1 round ___ As part of the action used to cast this spell, you must make a melee attack with a weapon against one creature within the spell's range, otherwise the spell fails. On a hit, the target suffers the attack's normal effects, and a dim shine bright on a target's weak spot until the start of your next turn. Before a creature makes an attack roll against the target, it can choose to take a -5 penalty to the attack roll, as it targets for the weak spot. If they do so and the attack hits, the target takes radiant damage equal to your spellcasting ability modifier, and the spell ends. \pagebreakNum This spell's damage increases when you reach higher levels. On a hit, the target suffers the attack’s normal effects, and it becomes electrically charged until the start of your next turn. If the target hits you with a melee attack before then, the target takes lightning damage equal to your spellcasting ability modifier, as the electric charge returns to you, and the spell ends. This spell’s damage increases when you reach higher levels. At 5th level, the melee attack deals an extra 1d8 lightning damage to the target, and the damage the target takes for hitting you with a melee attack increases to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier. At 5th level, the melee attack deals an extra 1d8 psychic damage to the target, and the damage the target takes for speaking increases to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier. Both damage rolls increase by 1d8 at 11th level and 17th level. #### Spell-Shattering Blade *Evocation cantrip* ___ - **Casting Time:** 1 action - **Range:** 5 feet - **Components:** V, M (a weapon) - **Duration:** Instantaneous ___ As part of the action used to cast this spell, you must make a melee attack with a weapon against one creature within the spell’s range, otherwise the spell fails. On hit, the target suffers the attack's normal effects, and if the creature is the target of a spell cast by a creature allied with it, the caster takes force damage equal to your spellcasting ability modifier. As a reaction, the caster can end the spell to not receive the damage. If the target is being affected by multiple spells of different casters, you can choose which one target. Each time the vampire or the vampire's companions do anything harmful to the target, This spell's damage increases when you reach higher levels. At 5th level, the melee attack deals an extra 1d8 force damage to the target, and the damage the caster takes increases to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier. Both damage rolls increase by 1d8 at 11th and 17th level.
