12 Months

there are twelve major holidays in the human culture of Sperodin. There is one major holiday a month. Some holidays are a one day event while others are feasts that lasts many days. Before really diving into the holidays though we must acknowledge the calendar structure of Sperodin. The Caldendar of Sperodin is broken up between twelve months. Each of the twelve months last 30 days. Each month is broken up into 3 ten days stretches. Below is a list of the 12 months of Sperodin.

The Twelve months of the Sperodin calendar are not randomly named. Each of the months are said to be named after beings that are said to be dead gods that governed over previous prime material planes. Additionally each of the twelve months, or twelve dead gods are said to have a finger print in the night sky. There are twelve major constellations in the night sky. It is said that the dead bodies of these old gods shattered and the shattered pieces became the stars of the night sky!

10 Days

With each of the twelve months being broken into ten day stretches, this means the days of the weeks are not your typical monday through sunday. Instead there are ten seperate unique names which are listed below. Each of the days are named after the children of the first born of Askyiska. The only children of the first born that do not have days named after them are the gods of trickery.

It is said when the ten seperate days were named, the trickery gods were purposley left out of the picture when considering names. Them being left out is said not to be done in a manner that declares them less. It is said to be done because any day ones life is altered by a god of trickery is a bad day. Furthermore it is a day that is not wanted and ultimately it is resented.

Igday Ignisa
Esday Esgrossa
Vernday Verndire
Rowday Rowheem
Hathday Hathamora
Rovday Rovena
Hyday Hydora

Korday Korena

In elvan culture, days arn't named. Elves are older than the gods the days are named after. Elves naming the days would be as if a human named the hours. To elves, days are futile in tracking! Elves are very aware of how many moons have passed within a given month though and often refer to days as the number of the moon it is. So the first would be the first moon. the 7th would be the 7th moon, etc etc.

When the children of Askyiska were created, Thorag done away with the atmosphere that gave it this feel and the molecules that created this feel bound together and forged the Mithril Metal. A note about the gods feast though. Within the culture of man the feasts are referred to as the gods feasts. Within elvan culture though, they do not make the feasts about the gods at all. Instead the Elves make them about the deeper moral. Elves claim they have observed the feast since before the creation of the gods that man uses the feasts to honor.

Blood Moons

There are four blood moon every calendar year. They fall in the months of Ches, Ky, Sep and Thek. Within Elvan culture these blood moons are celebrated as holidays. They are all each honored for something different.

Prime -Elves take the Prime Blood Moon as a reminder to give the best that they have. Life is full of cycles and if we do not give our best, the cycles will not give their best to us. Every cycle eventually ends to only begin again.

Shimmering- The Second blood moon is unique in the sense that it's light shimmers on and off. Elves take this as a reminder that there is beauty within everything. Sometimes things can become trival in life. The shimmering blood moon is a remembered that trival things have beauty. We just need to behold it.

God's Dance- The third blood moon is referred to as the God's Dance. It is referred to as such because it has a displacement effect to it. It will at times appear to blink out and blink back in another location, almost as if it is a dance. This holiday is an elvan party holiday. It is a reminder to dance and enjoy life.

Nexus- The Nexus bloodmoon is the last blood moon of the year. Elves use it to look back on the years that have past and then look forward to the years that are to come.

Day of the Womb

The Day of the Womb is a holiday when Elves give back to the womb of Sperodin. By womb they mean the ground beneath them. The Day of the Womb is celebrated on the first of Shad. Elves gather together to plant seeds within the earth. They name all the seeds they plant and then come together with their communities to celebrated the land itself.
