Legendary Resistance (1/Day). If the thrumbo fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Magic Resistance. The thrumbo has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Charge. If the thrumbo moves at least 20 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with a greathorn attack on the same turn, the target takes an extra 22 (5d8) damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 19 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Actions

Multiattack. The thrumbo makes two attacks, one with its greathorn and one with its stomp.

Greathorn. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 29 (5d8+7) slashing damage.

Stomp. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (2d10+7) bludgeoning damage.

Thrumbos are extrordinarly rare and powerful beasts. They are among the most coveted targets of poachers and trappers, but are as dangerous as they are beautiful. Thrumbos are massive quadrupeds with elephantine legs, protected by a thick, pale-blue hide, an overpelt of luxurious feathery fur, and a large deadly horn.

Peaceful Behemoths. Content to roam the most remote wild places, thrumbos graze on foliage and brush, either solitary or in small family herds. With few natural predators, thrumbos often tolerate harassment well, but when finally provoked to violence, they bring their mass and devastating horn to bear.

Poacher's Prize. So rare as to be thought a myth, a thrumbo that is found and slain is usually harvested for its body parts, all of which have applications in alchemy and the creation of magical items. The horn is the most valuable, and among hunters of thrumbos, a rumor exists of a vast gravesite littered with the horns of the deceased.

Ferocious in Defense. Few creatures can withstand the full charge of a provoked adult thrumbo. Those who seek to take down such a creature are best served by guile and patience. Those who have succeeded often resort to unusual and dubious strategies - rumors range from leaving out several basins of hard spirits to impair the beast to building a cage it while it sleeps. Whatever the effectiveness of these rumors, they are born out of a reluctance to face the creature head-on.

Using the Greathorn of a Thrumbo

A thrumbo greathorn, which weighs about 500 lbs, has numerous uses. One intact greathorn can sell for 8000 gp.

Many hunters prize the greathorn for its remarkable strength to weight ratio, and its ability to hold an edge. A skilled artisan can use the strongest part of the horn to craft a sword of sharpness.

Alternatively, an alchemist can use the greathorn to craft three potions of Supreme Healing. If provided with the shavings left after a sword of sharpness is created, they can craft one.

Using the Hide of a Thrumbo

The underhide of the thrumbo is thick and difficult to work with and weighs about 2000 lbs, but still has useful properties. It can be sold for 1000 gp.

When properly treated and layered, the hide can approximate metal armors fairly well and can be crafted into a suit of +1 armor.

Using the Pelt of a Thrumbo

The feathery overpelt of a thrumbo is the source of its resilience to cold and is believed to bestow antimagic properties on the creature. It weighs about 200 lbs and can sell for 4000 gp.

An appropriately skilled tailor can turn the pelt into a single mantle of spell resistance.
