# Heritage and Half-breeds: Blasphemy Blasphemies are the result of the mixing of diluted fiend and celestial blood, often crossed in the intermingling of human bloodlines. Their souls are pulled in all directions, and are often caught in the conflict between good and evil, may it be from without or within. ### Celestial and Fiend Blasphemies are derived from human bloodlines with tiefling and aasimar heritage. These folk look human, but their mixed blood has a clear effect on their appearance. Blasphemies often have pale to grey skin and piercing eyes. Some may even have small horns or tails. They are often eerily beautiful, but there is something unnatural about them that makes others uncomfortable or distrusting. ### Dual Nature Because of their dual nature, their souls are naturally very conflicted. Both the forces of good and the forces of evil seek to use them as powerful tools for their purposes, or seek to destroy them for being a blasphemous corruption. ### Blasphemy Names Most blasphemies are born from human parents, and they use the same naming conventions as their native culture. As many also have tiefling heritage and have a conflicted nature, some may instead adopt a "virtue" name in their search for identity. ### Blasphemy Traits Blasphemies share certain racial traits due to their heritage. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Charisma score increases by 2. **Age.** Blasphemies mature at the same rate as humans, but they can live up to 160 years. **Alignment.** Due to the strong pulls by both good and evil, blasphemies tend towards neutral alignments. **Size.** Blasphemies are about the same size and build as humans. Your size is Medium. **Speed.** Your base walking speed is 30 feet. **Darkvision.** Thanks to your celestial and fiendish heritage, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. **Profane Resistance.** You have resistance to necrotic damage. **Abhorrent to All.** As an action, you can cast *Protection from Evil and Good* on yourself, using Charisma as your spellcasting ability for it. When cast in this way, the spell only protects you from celestials and fiends and requires no material components. Once you this feature, you can’t cast it again with this trait until you finish a long rest. **Languages.** You can speak, read, and write Common, Celestial, and your choice of Infernal or Abyssal. **Subrace.** You have a subrace based on your ancestry: Heresy, Sacrilege, or Apostasy. #### Heresy Heresies have heritage stemming from the more lawful planes, such has Mount Celestia or the Nine Hells. They may have more devilish traits and tend toward a lawful alignment. **Ability Score Increase.** Your Strength score increases by 1. **Will Made Manifest.** Starting at 3rd level, you can use your action to unleash the energy within yourself, causing your eyes to burn with a fiery light and two flightless wings of shadowy flame to sprout from your back. Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action. During it, you have the power to impose your will upon others; you can cast the *Command* spell at will on each of your turns. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this spell. During it, every creature within 10 feet of you must must each succeed on a Charisma saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier) at the beginning of each of their turns. On a failed save, the creature must roll a d4 and subtract the number rolled from any attack roll or saving throw it makes before the beginning of its next turn. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
