Way of the Butterfly

Champions are not made in monestaries. Champions are made from something deep inside them. Monks of the Way of the Butterfly train endlessly every day, not just to defeat their rivals, but to break beyond the very limits of their strength. After all, a champion is someone who fights on, even when you think he can't.

Tiger's Eye

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, your martial arts training has led you to meet the challenge of your rivals. Once per turn, you can spend 1 ki to choose one creature you can see within 30 feet of you, that creature is marked for 1 minute with your Tiger's Eye. When a creature marked with your Tiger's Eye hits you with an attack, the damage you take from the attack is reduced by your Martial Arts die.

Only 1 creature can be marked with Tiger's Eye at one time.

In addition, when you score a critical hit against a creature affected by your Tiger's Eye, you can use your reaction to regain 1 ki point.

Float like a Butterfly

Your dedication to the ring has taught you many combat maneuvers. Starting at 6th level, when engaged with a enemy creature you have marked with your Tiger's Eye, you can perform a series of maneuvers.

Uppercut. As a bonus action, perform an Unarmed Strike against a marked creature. This attack is a critical hit on a roll of 18-20.

Clinching. As a bonus action, you can attempt to grapple a enemy creature marked with your Tiger's Eye. While you have a creature grappled, you may roll two dice, instead of one when reducing the damage with your Tiger's Eye feature

Weaving. When you hit 2 times with an Unarmed Strike against a creature marked with Tiger's Eye, you can begin Weaving as a bonus action. While Weaving, until the start of your next turn, any attack roll made by a creature marked with your Tiger's Eye is made with disadvantage.

Sting like a Bee

At 11th level, you focus your ki into your movements for a powerful Jab

When you hit a target with an Unarmed Strike, you can spend 1 ki point to perform a Jab, dealing additional damage equal to your Martial Arts die.

King of the Ring

At 17th level, you can expend 5 ki points to empower yourself as the King of the Ring for 1 minute, granting the following benefits:

  • Whenever you use the Extra Attack feature to attack twice, you can instead attack three times
  • When you score a critical hit, you can use your reaction to regain 2 ki point.
