Elf Subraces

Desert Elf

Despite being considered an oddity or a weird mutation by most other elves, the Desert Elves (or Al’Timour, as they call themselves) likely evolved from the early wood elves. Adapting to their harsh surroundings, Desert Elves can withstand even extreme heat and go days without food or water. Additionally, Desert Elves are typically shorter and more short-lived than their forest-dwelling cousins, rarely growing older than 500 years.

Out of necessity, the Al’Timour have developed their own distinct methods of travel, traversing the desert with the help of their winged gliders. Each member of Al'Timour society is gifted a glider as part of their rite of adulthood and paints it in distinct and colorful patterns.

Aerial Training. You have proficiency in vehicles (air).

Desert Born. You're acclimated to deserts. You can go twice as long without food and drink before you gain a level of exhaustion. You're also naturally adapted to hot climates, as described in chapter 5 of the Dungeon Master's Guide.

Sandstorm. You can cast the dust devil spell once with this trait, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for this spell.

Agarin

Once in a while, an elven child is born with unnaturally pale skin and bright red eyes. Commonly called Agarin - blood-eyed - these children are considered an extraordinary coincidence or a miracle, even, but are more likely than not the product of magic experimentation and selective breeding. Regardless of the circumstances behind their existence, Agarin are highly sought after for their natural prowess in combat and unflinching nature.

The Agarin were first discovered, and possibly even created, within an old military empire. It is said that military recruiters even went so far as to take Agarin children from their parents shortly after birth to raise and train them in the brutal Blood Corps, an elite fighting unit.

Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 1.

Heavy Weapon Training. You are proficient with longswords, greatswords, longbows, and glaives.

Until the start of your next turn, you have a +5 bonus to AC, including against the triggering attack. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you have finished a short or long rest.
