Ekon Race(5e)
Ekon's can be the failed attempt of ambitious wizards and scientists trying to harness the power of vampires without their weaknesses or they can be a different kind of vampire all together, but some Ekon can be created directly by receiving the blessing of the Red Queen.
Most Ekons are usually children that lived in pain and poverty but somehow either by good luck or bad luck ended up with vampire powers and the ability to control them.
Ekon Features
Ability Score Increase
- Your Charisma score increases by 2.
Age
- Ekons are not immortal but they age at a slower rate from the moment their vampire origin is awakened.
Alignment
- Ekons have varying alignments, it mostly depends how much they embrace their vampiric lifestyle.
Size
- Ekons vary widely in height and build, from barely 4 feet to well over 6 feet tall. your size is Medium.
Speed
- Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Language's
- You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice.
Darkvision
- You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Vampire Genetics
- You have necrotic resistance
Unholy Being
- You are immune to diseases but you need to drink at least 1 vial worth of humanoid blood once per day or you will suffer points of exhaustion until you die. You cannot be healed by Divine magic(potions still heal you), every time you get healed by divine means you get damaged instead.
Ekon Origins
Ekon's are divided between Ogden and Zenos origins, usually the Zeno-Ekons are the more pureblood origin from the two, drawing power from the shadows in comparison to Ogden-Ekons that draw power from their bloodlust, Ogden-Ekons loath Zeno-Ekons the most as they feel that they are the superior race. Choose one of the two origins presented below. In some worlds, these origins can be divided still further or united as one.
Thirst for survival
Even as an Ekon you still carry some of the curse that a vampire has, you need blood to sustain your ravenous hunger:
- Bite- To sustain and heal yourself you can use your action to a willing, paralyzed, charmed, incapacitated, restrained, or grappled, creature within 5 feet of you that has blood and sink your teeth into them to drain (you can choose not to damage them) and heal for (1d4+ your Constitution Modifier + your Character level).
About Ekon's
Ekon's can come from all kinds of racial backgrounds, from humans, elfs even gnomes, they retain many characteristics from before they were changed, but since they still have vampire blood some things do change for example, their skin becomes pale and their canines get long just like a vampire. Since Ekon's dont have most of the vulnerabilities of a normal vampire its easier to get by at their everyday life, but there is still an important decision they have to make for their survival and that is where to find blood . Its not unlikely for one Ekon to find another one in the world although you cant be sure if its a friend .... or a foe.
The Red Queen
The Red Queen is an ancient Vampire entity that slumbers underneath the earth, She awakens every few centuries causing plagues and calamities throughout the realms. She is the root of all vampires and her blood thirst is the driving force behind every vampire in existence.
Ogden Origin
Ogden-Ekons are a more brutish variation of Ekons. Ogden-Ekons are recognized for their immense strength and size, Some visual differences in this variation include darker skin, white or gray hair and large and hulking figures.

Bloodlust- Starting at Level 3, you can use your action to embrace even more your primal vampire instincts causing your eyes to turn bright red and your fangs to become longer and deadlier, your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action, During it you have :The HuntYou gain 5 movement speed and the ability to see all living beings that have blood in a radius of 30ft, your bite damage die becomes 1d6. Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
Zenos Origin
Zeno-Ekons are the more elegant variation of Ekons, they excel on their dexterous abilities and mastery of their nature, They are usually more beautiful in comparison to other Ekons and most of them have a fit and athletic build.

Deadly Awakening- Starting at Level 3, you can use your action to awaken your vampire powers causing your right eye to flare with a dark purple energy, while shadows start to surround you like a protective barrier, your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action, During it you have:
Shadow BarrierYou gain double your proficiency bonus as Temporary hit points, whenever you get attacked you can use your reaction to create spikes from the shadows that surrounds you and deal necrotic damage equal to your Charisma modifier on a 5 feet radius around you (minimum of 1 damage).
Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
