## Path of the Blood Shaman

A hundred scars already adorn your chest, arms and neck, but it is time to create one more. You feel a familiar rush of adrenaline and pain hit you as your blade carves your own skin. Using the blood, you draw intricate patterns on your forehead. These time-honored rituals have won your clan a thousand battles in the past, and today will be no different if the bones are to be believed. A bellowing roar and the crack of eldritch thunder echo as you charge into battle.

You are a Blood Shaman. You wield axes just as well as you do hexes, using your own life force to fuel ancient magics. Others would die from practicing the occult arts as recklessly as you do, but they are weak. Only you can stand on the ruthless Path of the Blood Shaman.

### Spellcasting

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, after going through your initiation as a Blood Shaman, you are now allowed to use your clan's traditional warrior rites.

#### Casting Spells

You use your life force and fury to cast spells. You *can* cast Blood Shaman spells and concentrate on them while raging, but you can *only* cast those Blood Shaman spells and concentrate on them while you are raging.

In order to cast a Blood Shaman spell, you suffer an amount of damage as described in the Blood Shaman Spell Cost table. This damage cannot be reduced by any means.

#### Spells Known

The Blood Shaman Spellcasting Table shows when you learn new Blood Shaman spells. Each of these spells must be of a level less than or equal to your current Maximum Spell Level, which is on that same table. Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the Blood Shaman spells you know with another Blood Shaman spell of your choice.

#### Spellcasting Ability

Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your Blood Shaman spells, as you use your warrior's spirit to force the weave to obey your will. You use your Wisdom whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. You use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a Blood Shaman spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

### Channel Suffering

Beginning at 6th level, the act of turning pain into power comes naturally to you. Whenever you take damage while raging, you receive one Pain Point.
When you roll for damage, you can spend some of your Pain Points to deal an extra 1d4 psychic damage per Pain Point spent.

When your rage ends, all remaining Pain Points are lost.

### Supernatural Bloodlust

At 10th level, you learn to use the pain of your fallen enemies to fuel your own power. When you reduce a creature to zero hit points, or deal a critical strike, you can gain temporary hit points equal to half your Barbarian level, rounded down.

### Occult Sacrifice

At 14th level, your recklessness knows no bound. When you cast a Blood Shaman spell, you can choose to suffer twice as much damage from casting it. If you do, you have advantage on this spell's attack rolls against creatures within 5ft of you, and creatures within 5ft of you have disadvantage against this spell's saving throw.
