Circle of Autumn

Druids of the Circle of Autumn revel in the changes of the world. They see the same beauty in natural death as they do in new life. Serving to aide the transition of life from one form to another, as faded leaves die and pass into dirt.

These druids rarely meet with each other. When they do, it is to celebrate times of change between the seasons or great change within the world.

Circle Spells

At 2nd level, and again at 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th level you gain access to the spells listed for that level in the Circle of Autumn Spells table.

Once you gain a circle spell, it is always prepared, it doesn't count against the number of spells you can prepare, and if it doesn't appear on the druid spell list, it is nonetheless a druid spell for you.

Circle of Autumn Spells

Druid Level Circle Spells
2nd inflict wounds, ray of sickness
3rd misty step, ray of enfeeblement
5th fear, feign death
7th blight, shadow of moil
9th contagion, enervation

Transition

Starting at 2nd level, your magic pushes those close to death. When you cast a druid spell of 1st-level or higher that deals damage, you can change one damage type it deals to necrotic damage. If the spell already deals necrotic damage, it ignores resistance and treats immunity as resistance instead.

Looming Fog

Also at 2nd level, as an action, you can expend a use of your Wild Shape feature to invoke autumn's presence, creating a haunting cloud of fog, rather than transforming into a beast form. Choose a point you can see within 60 feet of you, fog coalesces and lightly obscures the area within 15 feet of the point. Each creature of your choice within the fog when it appears must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC, or be unable to willingly leave the fog until the end of your next turn. As a bonus action, you can move the fog up to 30 feet to a point you can see.

Once per turn, when you deal damage to a creature that is within this fog, you can deal additional necrotic damage to that creature equal to your Wisdom modifier. While you are within this fog, you only need to expend one foot of movement for every two feet you move.

The fog remains for 10 minutes, or until you use this ability again. You can choose to end it early at any time (no action required).

Sap

Beginning at 6th level, when you use your Looming Fog feature, you can have the fog spread 30 feet out from the point instead.

In addition, when a creature you can see within 30 feet of you dies, you can use your reaction to restore hit points up to twice your druid level divided as you choose among any number of creatures within 30 feet of you, as you harness energy from the transfer of life to death. Once you use this ability, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.

Hazy Movement

At 10th level, you gain resistance to necrotic damage.

In addition, your movement doesn't provoke opportunity attacks from creatures within the fog created by your Looming Fog feature.

Pass

Starting at 14th level, after you deal damage to a creature that is within the fog created by your Looming Fog feature, it is instantly killed if it has hit points less than or equal to your druid level.
