# Dragonborn: Enhanced As of base release the Dragonborn felt underwhelming but acceptable, now with books like 'Volo's Guide to Monsters' providing newer and far stronger race options the Dragonborn are an oddity with features you would expect to be included locked behinds feats and their iconic breath weapon being painfully weak.
This document enhances their existing breath weapon, provides darkvision, natural armor and weapons and contains improved options for mobility that don't cost a feat and provides more freedom of choice. This is designed to beef up the base PHB Dragonborn to compete with the newer race options. Whilst using this document ignore the feats 'Dragon Hide' and 'Dragon Wings', and the 'Dragon Wings' Draconic Bloodline archetype feature will remove the armor restriction referenced in this document. ### Enhanced Traits **Enhanced Breath Weapon:** As an Action you can exhale a torrent of elemental energy, the damage and area of which is defined by your Draconic Ancestry. When used every creature within the area must make a saving throw, again defined by your Draconic Ancestry. This DC is equal to 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 4d6 at 6th level, 6d6 at 11th level, and 8d6 at 16th level. You can use this an amount of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum 1) per long rest. **Natural Weapons:** Your bite is fierce and your claws razor sharp, as part of an attack action you can attack with either your bite or your claws. Your bite functions as a *natural weapon* and deals bludgeoning and piercing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier. Your claws are considered *unarmed strikes* and deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an *unarmed strike*. ### Dragonborn Ancestry The form and abilities of a Dragonborn are influenced by their environment and their ancestry. The Dragonborn are split into three broad ancestries; Sky Sworn, Cliff Drakes and the Tideborn . #### Sky Sworn You lose access to your breath weapon, but you gain a tail and wings which provide a 20ft flight speed. You can not fly if you are wearing heavy armor or if you are exceeding your carrying capacity. \columnbreak #### Cliff Drakes Your claws are sharp and strong, giving you a 30ft climb speed and increasing your natural claw attacks damage to 1d6 + your Strength modifier. You also have a thick hide providing you with Natural Armor equal to 12 + your Dexterity Modifier. You can still gain the benefit of a shield when using natural armor. #### Tideborn You gain darkvision up to 60ft.
