### College of Masks Bards who join the College of Masks are performers who excel at taking on the roles of others. These Bards are usually actors or dramatic orators, and are often more comfortable in the shoes of another than they are in their own. Their study of acting has led to the development of their Masks, magical items which let them more fully embrace the roles they take on. Unlike many of their peers, these bards do not specialize in one particular performance, but instead focus their efforts on being able to perform across many styles and genres. ##### College of Masks Features | Bard Level | Feature | |:---:|:-----------| | 3rd | Maskmaker | | 6th | Scene Change| | 14th | Method Actor | #### Maskmaker At 3rd level you learn to craft Masks that channel the essence of living things. When you join this college, you learn to craft 3 Masks. You learn to craft a new mask when you reach even-numbered levels in this class. Crafting a Mask takes an hour, and can be done during a short or long rest. When you have carved a Mask, you can use a bonus action to equip it and gain its benefits as long as you are wearing it. Unequipping a mask counts as a free item interaction. To craft a Mask that grants the ability to cast a spell, you must have spell slots of the appropriate level (e.g. you must be at least a 5th-level Bard to craft a Beholder Mask). You can only craft one of each Mask, but if a Mask has separate types, such as the Dragon Masks, you can craft one of each type. (e.g. a 4th-level Bard could craft both a Red Dragon Mask and a Blue Dragon Mask.) Additionally, you gain proficiency with Woodcarver's Tools. #### Scene Change At 6th level, you become a master at changing roles quickly. You can expend a use of your Bardic inspiration to instantly swap the Mask you currently have equipped with another one that have crafted. #### Method Actor By 14th level, your mastery of the magic contained in your Masks has allowed you to blend their effects to create ever more complex characters. When you equip one Mask, you can select another Mask that you have crafted. You gain the benefits of your equipped Mask as well as this second Mask. When you unequip the first Mask, you lose both effects.
