Alternative Capstones: Wizards
At your DM's discreation you may elect to take on of these capstones for your 20th level Wizard. This will replace the Signature Spells feature you gain at 20th level. Gain the one appropriate for your subclass.
Abjuration
Spell Reflection
At 20th level, you add the Counterspell spell to your spellbook, if it is not there already.
When you successfully use Counterspell to counteract a spell that affects targeted creatures or an area, you can turn that spell’s effect back on its caster. When reflected, the spell affects only the original caster, even if it’s an area spell or it would normally affect more than one creature. If an attack roll or saving throw is required, they are made with your spell attack bonus or against your spell save DC respectively.
Bladesinger
Spell Weaving
Starting at 20th level, while your Bladesong is active, as a bonus action you may channel a spell with a casting time of one action or bonus action that targets only one creature into a one handed melee weapon. The spell is cast on the first creature you hit with a melee weapon attack. If the spell requires a spell attack roll, or saving throw, it is considered a hit or fail respectively. You may channel the spell for a minute before it is lost, and it requires your concentration to do so.
Conjuration
Malignant Transposition
Starting at 20th level, you may target a space occupied with an unwilling creature. That creature must make a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC, or be swapped with you. On a successful save, they remain where they are, but you may teleport to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of them.
Additionally, you may use the feature as a reaction to being attacked. The creature that is swapped in is the new target of the attack. If you are no longer in the space, the attack is considered a miss against you.
Divination
Fate Twister
Starting at 20th level, you may replace an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check after rolling but before the Dungeon Master tells you the result.
Enchantment
Forge Memories
Starting at 20th level, when using your Alter Memories feature to erase memories, you may instead replace those memories with ones of your own creation.
Evocation
Dual Evocation
Starting at 20th level, when you cast an Evocation spell with a duration of Instantaneous, you may expend a spell slot that is two levels higher in order to cast a second Evocation spell with a duration of Instantaneous of the same level of lower with the same action.
Illusion
Subtle Illusion
Starting at 20th level, creating illusions become second nature to you, and hiding them becomes easier. When you cast an Illusion spell, you may ignore verbal and somatic components.
Necromancy
Phylactery
At 20th level, you have created your own phylactery. It is any object no greater than your first. If you are killed and your phylactery has not been destroyed, you will be reconstituted in 2d6 days within 5 feet of your phylactery. You are considered an undead creature.
To destroy your phylactery, it must be soaked in holy water for 24 hours. For each hour it is soaked in holy water, a wraith escapes.
Transmutation
Transmuter's Substitution
Starting at 20th level, you may use your stone to substitute all verbal, somatic, and material components of a spell. You may use the stone in this way a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1) before the stone is consumed.
War Magic
Effortless Deflection
At 20th level, you gain an additional reaction that may only be used for your Arcane Deflection feature.
When Arcane Deflection is used in this way, you may cast spells other than cantrips.
