# Warlock Patron: **The Soulforger** Y our patron is a powerful entity from an outer plane, a being that forges, creates, or is a creation themselves. Almost godlike in power and mythical in existence, your patron has bestowed upon you the means to carry out its enigmatic will. Your patron may be one of the Hellforged, a Gearmind of Mechanus, or a Creation god. You might have sought out one of these beings to bolster your magical power, raining Eldritch destruction while your body is reinforced for protection. Or perhaps you have a weak physical frame, due to age or illness, and make a bargain to enhance your abilities to new heights. Whatever the reason, the Soulforged focus on expanding their own capabilities, in some cases even giving pieces of their mortal coil for machine-like precision and logic. ### Expanded Spell List The Soulforged lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you. ##### The Soulforger Expanded Spells | Spell Level | Spell | |:---:|:-----------:| | 1st | *shield, identify* | | 2nd | *enhance ability, alter self* | | 3rd | *elemental weapon, protection from energy* | | 4th | *Otiluke's resilient sphere, fabricate* | | 5th | *animate objects, circle of power* | ## Soulforging Your Patron has instilled in you the knowledge and ability to literally pour your heart and soul into your craft. At 1st level, you gain proficiency with tinker’s tools and blacksmith’s tools, and can use them as your spellcasting focus. Over the course of an hour, you can forge and equip a magical set of armor, the materials provided by your patron. You may forge any version of your armor for which you meet the level prerequisite. Only you can wear this armor, and you are proficient with this armor while wearing it. It has no strength requirement, and you suffer no drawbacks from sleeping in this armor. Should you obtain a suit of magical armor, you may integrate its abilities into your pact armor if it meets the Armor Type prerequisite; doing so requires an 8-hour ritual, after which your pact armor obtains magical properties. You may only integrate one magical suit of armor at a time, and you must still attune to it, if required. | Warlock Level | Armor Class | Armor Type | |:-------------:|:-----------:|:----------:| | 1st | 12+Dex | Light | 5th | 15+Dex (max 2) | Medium | 9th | 18 | Heavy ## Constructed Mind Starting at 6th level, your mental capacity receives a profound augmentation. Following a long rest, you choose proficiency in 2 skills, or you can double your proficiency on 2 skills you are already proficient with. You cannot do this on skills already doubled through a feat or Expertise. These proficiencies can be swapped out when you take another long rest. Additionally, your Patron offers you the chance to permanently upgrade your intelligence at the cost of your empathy and emotional aptitude. Upon reaching 6th level, you may swap your Intelligence score and your Charisma score. This process takes 24 hours, and is permanent. Should you choose this, your pact magic, invocations, and all other warlock features that utilize Charisma now instead use Intelligence, and you gain resistance to psychic damage. ## Mechanization Beginning at 10th level, your body begins to reflect that of your Patron. You have advantage on saving throws against becoming blinded, poisoned, diseased, and deafened as more and more of your body becomes mechanized. You stop aging, and other constructs and magical traps detect you as a construct. You also choose one of the following Forms: * #### Liquid Metal While wearing Light armor, you become proficient in initiative checks, and gain half your proficiency bonus to all DEX checks you aren't already proficient in. You also gain resistance to Radiant damage. Once per short or long rest, you may spend a bonus action and a Warlock Spell Slot to charge your armor, adding your CHA modifier (Min 1) to attack, damage, and AC. While under this effect, you lose all Spellcasting ability This effect last turns equal to your CON modifier plus 1 (Min 1) * #### Bolstered Body While wearing Medium armor, you add your CHA modifier (Min 1) to all cantrip damage rolls, also increase your saves vs spells by 1. Whenever you cast a damaging Warlock spell, you gain resistance to that damage type until the end of your next turn, and you can spend a bonus action to make it immunity once per short or long rest. * #### Living Fulcrum While wearing Heavy Armor, you get half your proficiency bonus to STR and CON checks you aren't already proficient in. You also get advantage on all rolls to prevent being moved against your will, and resistance to Force damage. Once per short or long rest, you can spend a bonus action gain resistance to Piercing, Slashing, and Bludgeoning damage, and advantage on all STR checks for one minute. \pagebreak ## Machina Ex Deo At 14th level, you gain greater access to the source of your Patron's power. Once per long rest, your body becomes almost fully machine, upgrading much of your organic functions to the limit, but potentially straing your life force. You gain immunity to poison, disease, and magical aging, ending any of those already affecting you but also making you immune to healing spells. This effect lasts 1 plus CHA modifier (min 1) minutes. you can also choose one of the following: * ### Bellatore Apparatus You gain temporary hp equal to your Warlock level, and plus 10ft movement speed. You add your CON modifier (min 1) to your death saving throws, and can use your reaction to attack one creature within reach that just attacked you. You can also temporarily raise one physical ability score by up to 4 points, if this would bring it over 20 you take one hit die in damage per point. This also lowers your CHA ability score to 10 max for the duration. You can use an action to end the duration early, and cast the spell *Destrucive Wave*, except it targets all creatures within range and deals Force instead of Radiant or Necrotic damage, and then take one level of exhaustion. * ### Magicis Imperium While active, you add 2 your INT and WIS ability checks and saving throws, plus 2 to your CHA modifier (min +2) ignoring previous effects. Eldritch Blast can now do Psychic damage, and you gain resistance to Psychic damage, (immunity if previously had resistance) and advantage on all Saves vs conditions. You can also spend a bonus action to reroll a save vs an ongoing spell effect. You may also to spend one hit die and choose one element (Fire, Cold, Thunder, Lightning, or Force). You can choose additional elements, each costing an exponential hit die cost (2, 4, 8 etc.) and one level of exhaustion when the duration ends. For the duration you gain resistance (immunity if already had resistance) to that element, and your damage of that type ignores resistance (resistance if target already has immunity). ## Armis Animata If you have the Soulforger as your Patron, when you cast *find familiar* you can choose Animated Armor as your familiar, which the following changes: * Its' AC is equal the any Soulforging armor you can use. * It loses its' multi-attack action. * Its' HP is equal to your Warlock level plus your CHA score. ### Soulforged Invocations Require The Soulforged patron as a prerequisite. Pact Forging can be used with other patrons if the character has the required proficiencies from another source. #### Pact Forging Prerequisite: *Pact of the Blade* When you transform a magic weapon into a pact weapon, by spending an additional hour you can alter it’s form into that of another weapon. You need to have on hand and be proficient with blacksmith’s tools for melee weapons, and tinker’s tools for ranged weapons. If the weapon ceases to be your pact weapon, it is transformed back to its original weapon type. If successful, the Armis becomes the new target of the attack, provided your Armis did not take any actions beside moving on it's previous turn. Alternately, you can use a bonus action to designate one ally within 5ft of your Armis to protect it, granting it half cover if the ally is Medium size or smaller. It can only intercept attacks vs that ally, but does so adding your DEX modifier (min 1) to it's Save. #### Perfected Protector *Prerequisite: Warlock level 9, Pact of the Chain, Soulforged Protector* You have learned to enhance your Armis, making it much more capable. It adds half your proficiency bonus to it's attack rolls and all saves, and gains reactions per turn equal to your CHA modifier (min 1), provided it takes only takes movement actions on it's previous turn. Additionally, you can use a Warlock Spell slot to designate an ally (including yourself) as a Protector target for one minute. Your Armis will follow that ally, staying within 5ft of it for the duration of the ability, unless there is no space within 5ft in which case it stays in the closest unoccupied space until it can move within 5ft of the target. It loses all actions except the Aid action and it's reaction(s). During each of your turns, you can use a bonus action to designate a new target that you can see within 60ft. #### Summon Constructs *Prerequisites: level 7, Pact of the Tome* You learn the spell Summon Greater Demon and can cast it with a warlock spell slot. Afterwards, you gain advantage on all saves vs being exhausted, and now you add your spellcasting modifier to all CON saves #### Upgrade Construct *Prerequisite Warlock Level 6* You can choose one additional skill for your Constructed Mind ability. Additionally at Warlock level 10, you get the following effects depending on your Mechanization ability: * While your Light armor is equipped, once per long rest you can change the armor covering you to resemble another humanoid, using a blacksmiths tools instead of a disguise kit to make the check, though your "skin" will still feel metallic to the touch. * While Medium Armor is equipped, once a long rest You can use a Bonus action to heal one hit die +CON (min 1) to yourself, or half as much (min 1) to one target within 10ft and gain immunity to one damage type you are currently resisting until your next turn. * While wearing Heavy armor, once per long rest you can use your action and movement to propel yourself up to 20ft in the air, and 20ft horizontally, reducing the effective fall height by 5ft per Warlock level for damage purposes. Every creature within 5ft of landing must make a STR save vs 10 + 1 for every 5ft fallen. Failing the save they are immediately knocked prone and taking 1d6 of Bludgeoning damage for every 10ft of your fall, and only half damage on a succesful save. ### Sources List of Firearms and more info found on Matt Mercer's DMs guild page [here](https://www.dmsguild.com/product/170778/Gunslinger-Martial-Archetype-for-Fighters "title") This was heavily inspired by The Forged Patron by Tembrium I found on Reddit [here](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_auFwGVbeYHKTAy--YbWrZJV9t7zNvKC/view "title") Which was based on Gearmind Patron on dandwiki.com [here](https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/The_Gearmind_(5e_Subclass) "title")
