Application Stones

The inventor of the Sending Stone promised it would become a ubiquitous convenience of daily life, yet the limited functions of these devices has led many to disregard them, if not destroy them in fits of pique. Subsequent enterprizing wizards created supplementary inventions, the better to improve sales of the original stones while simultaneously charging customers to improve them. Because they work by application to a pre-existing sending stone, these came to be known as application stones, or apps for short.
Each of these tiny stones can fit easily in one hand. They come in a variety of functions, each with a distinct shape. If you don't recognize a shape, you can use an Identify spell or make a DC 10 Arcana check to identify it.
Touching an app stone to a sending stone causes the app stone to disappear, whereupon the sending stone is permanently upgraded according to the function of the app. Some apps stack, thus multiples of the same type can be applied to the same sending stone. Only one sending stone is upgraded; paired stones are not affected.

| Answering | Each Sending you receive via stone or spell is recorded within your stone. You can instruct the stone to recite them, or to delete them. |
| Mindhack | You can make a Persuasion check, contested by the target's Wisdom save, to compel them to follow a single course of action that is not contrary to their nature or self-preservation. The action cannot last more than a minute. The target knows of your attempt if they make the save. |
Superior Sending Stone
Wondrous Item, Rare
Also known as the Blueberry for obscure reasons, this stone is not paired and can target any creature known to the user, as with a normal Sending spell. Additionally, this stone can be targeted by any sending stone whose user knows the name of this stone's owner.
This stone has 7 charges, which renew at dawn. Messages it sends, and their responses, are not limited by word numbers but instead by what can be spoken in one minute. This stone also has the functions of the Party Line, Long-Range Carrier, Call Waiting, Answering, and Mindhack apps.
