# Mantian Race Mantians, pronounced "MAN-tee-ans," are named after the Carthian animals known as mantas. They stand between 4 and 6 feet tall, with females being larger. While fully extended and engaged in an activity such as swimming, flying, or propelling through the vacuum of space, they typically measure 10 feet in length from nose to tail tip, and have a wingspan of approximately 15 feet. They have no hair, though they have membranous winglike structures and fins that are similar in decoration. They wear simple clothing when they must be covered, though they prefer their skin to be unadorned. ### Spacial Wanderers Atypical for any creature known on Carth, Mantians do not need to be within an atmosphere to survive. Their bodies are built to glide through low-gravity, with small “jets” built into their winglike membranes. These jets propel them easily through vacuum or fluid by forcing out streams of plasma generated within the body. Bio-engineers theorize that they have the ability to create energy similarly to how plants use photosynthesis, but divert the chemical creations from this process to fuel locomotion. ### Bizzare Bodies Mantians, due to their exposure to the vast expanses outside the protection of atmospheres have a unique connection to reality. They don't breathe in the typical sense, but "breathe" through their skin using whatever is most common. On Earth-like planets, they "breathe" air and water easily. They also tend to glow in dim lighting or darkness, in pale hues of blue, purple, teal, and grey. ### Strange Landwalkers Not built for land-based locomotion, there are several specific oddities that afflict walking mantians. They make odd noises, such as slapping or rapid popping as their feet hit and lift off of hard, smooth surfaces; they smell oddly musty and gleam as if covered in a thin slime. ### Mantian Names Mantians tend to have several hard consonants and long vowels, though their names tend to be short. ___ **Female Mantian Names:** Baiku, Daaxi, Ethra, Klebba, Niere, Zhiy --- **Male Mantian Names:** Aagbric, Bhaz, Cladi, Ilris, Krork, Szong, Volun \columnbreak You share the following traits with other Mantians. ***Ability Score Increase.*** Your Dexterity increases by 2, and your Charisma increases by 1. ***Age.*** Mantians mature around 30 years old, and commonly live to be several hundred.
