You inscribe a message with the writing materials used in the casting of this spell. The message can be written on any surface that can normally be written on. Any creature that reads this message must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save the target takes 2d10 psychic damage, and is blinded until the end of their next turn.

The target must also roll 1d6. On a 1-2 the target rolls on the short term madness table (DMG p.259), on a 3-4 the target rolls on the long term madness table (DMG p.260), and on a 5-6 the target rolls on the indefinite madness table.
