Otherworldly Patron: The Martyr
The Martyr is the spirit of a person or entity that was... well, martyred. Their soul now resides in the cosmos, where they work to protect the ideal they died for. One such entity might grant power to those willing to champion their ideal. This ideal may not necessarily be a good one--evil martyrs certainly exist. This is a 5e Warlock subclass for your saintly soul...
The Martyr
Your patron is the spirit of a saint or a sinner, a god or demon, or a celestial or fiend, that died protecting what they stood for. You chose to make a pact with this Martyr to protect your beliefs, but this Martyr also chose to make a pact with you because you shared or stood for an ideal they deemed worthy to die for. The Martyr is therefore motivated to share its power with those who share its zeal for a holy--or less than holy--ideal. Examples of real life Martyrs include Gandhi, Socrates, and Saint Peter.
