Aasimar and Tiefling Lore

Blood Lines Over Races

In typical dungeons and dragons lore Aasimars and Tieflings are their own individual race. In the world of Sperodin this is not so. Aasimar and Tieflings are not races but instead they are blood lines. They are a mutation or a blessing or possibly a cursing applied to a particular bloodline. This mutation, blessing, cursing is applied to a blood line through a pact. The pact is forged with a child. The patriarch of a bloodline conceives a child with a being of either celestrial, fiendish or abyssal roots. The mutated, cursed or blessed blood line does not begin with the patriarch that established the pact but instead with the child that is born. These pact can be made from any playable race that is able to conceive a child. Regardless of the race of the patriarch the racial features follow that of either the Aasimar or Tiefling race block.

Blood Line Dilution and Score

Over the generation the blood taint within the blood line is lessened. Mechanically every Aasimar or Tiefling has a blood line score. First generation tieflings and aasimars start with a blood line score of 100. Every generation that follows looses 3d4 off their bloodline score. When the bloodline score hits 0 the tainted blood is fully removed and it is as if there was never any taint to the blood.

Aasimars and Tieflings will often breed with their own king to strengthen the bloodline. If two aasimars or two tieflings breed each bloodline looses their respected 3d4 but are then added together. So say one blood line was 73 and the other was 47 after they lost the 3d4 subtraction the final blood line score would be 120.

If an Aasimar and Tiefling breed together, the blood lines war against each other. After the dilution of 3d4 the lower blood line is erased. Not without doing a number on the higher blood line. Say there was a Tiefling score of 35 and an aasimar score of 20 the Tiefling score would triumph and the child would be a tiefling. However the tiefling score would be lowered by the aasimars 20, making the final score of the tiefling blood line 15.

The Blood of the Blood Line

The blood of Aasimars and Tieflings is highly magical. It contains either celestial or abyssal/fiendish elements. There have been warlocks and other dark mages that have bound generations of aasimars and tieflings to harvest their blood to use for magical experiments. Enough blood of an aasimar or tiefling could possibly replace any component for any spell.

Abnormal Physical Traits

Aasimars and Tieflings are often noted for their physical appearances being exotic. The higher the blood line taint the more exotic the physical traits are. A Tiefling of a blood line taint of 3 may just have stubs of horns barley protruding from their foreheads that have a layer of natural skin over them while one with a blood line taint of 100 would would abnormal skin color, abnormal eyes, a tail and massive horns and one that has been bread with a score of 500 could have red neon glowing blood that out lines all their veins in their body making them visible from the outside. There are unlimited possibilities of the physical abnormalities a bread aasimar or tiefling could possess.

First Generation Warlocks

The patriarch of a blood line taint may not receive the taint themselves but they are almost always rewarded. They often reap great wealth and power. The possess a lover of either celestial, fiendish or abyssal nature and additionally that are often rewarded power as either a cleric, paladin or warlock.
