# Phasewalkers
##### Heritage and Half-breeds
The Ethereal Plane borders all of the material realms, and its influence is seen in the presence of phase spiders and blink dogs. Phasewalkers are the planetouched humanoids of the ethereal plane. Belonging fully to neither the Ethereal plane nor the Material Plane , they have the ability to move back and forth between both planes.
### Close but Far Away
As rare beings, phasewalkers might go their entire lives without encountering another one of their kind. Though they can easily cross the border to the ethereal plane, they often can't stay there for long. Phasewalkers almost never have contact with the source of their ethereal heritage.
### Born of Aether
Phasewalkers appear as pale skinned humanoids with blue translucent pupilless eyes. If you look closely at a phasewalker, the edges of their form seem to be wavy or blurred as if not truly formed. Their ability to shift to the ethereal plane makes them naturals at stealth, predisposing them to lives of subterfuge and espionage.
### Phasewalker Names
Phasewalkers use the naming conventions of the people among whom they were raised. They might later assume distinctive names to capture their heritage, such as Arie, Aurora, Gray, Shade, or Shyft.
### Phasewalker Traits
Your phasewalker character has certain characteristics in common with all other phasewalkers.
**Ability Score Increase.** Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma score increases by 1.
**Age.** Phasewalkers mature at a rate akin to elves. They can live many centuries.
**Alignment.** Phasewalkers tend mostly towards chaotic alignments
**Size.** Phasewalkers are about the same size as humans. Your size is medium.
**Speed.** Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
**Trance.** Phasewalkers don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. While meditating, you focus on maintaining your connection to the planes. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
**Ethereal Movement.** You can move through all non-magical difficult terrain without expending extra movement.
