Throwing a Creature

Using the Attack action, you can make a Special melee Attack to throw a creature. If you’re able to make multiple attacks with the Attack action, this Attack replaces one of them.

To make this attack, the creature must be grappled by you. Instead of making an Attack roll, you make a Strength (Athletics) check contested by the creature’s Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check (the target chooses the ability to use). If you win the contest, you throw the creature.

If you successfully throw the creature, you can make a ranged weapon attack with the the thrown creature as an improvised weapon with a range as indicated in the Creature Size / Range table. If your attack hits, the target of the attack and creature thrown both take damage.

If the thrown creature takes damage and has fallen less than 10 feet, it must make a Dexterity saving throw or fall prone. The DC is equal to the damage taken. Otherwise, it follows the normal rules for falling.

Creature Size Normal Range (ft.) / Long Range (ft.)
One size larger than you 0 ft. / equal to your Strength modifier
The same size as you equal to your Strength modifier / Strength modifier x 2
One size smaller than you 5 + Strength modifier / 10 + Strength modifier x 2
Two sizes smaller than you 10 + Strength modifier x 2 / 30 + Strength modifier x 6
Three sizes smaller than you 20 + Strength modifier x 4 / 60 + Strength modifier x 10
Four sizes smaller than you 40 + Strength modifier x 4 / 120 + Strength modifier x 20
