School of Ink v2.0

Living Spellbook

Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, you prepare your spells by giving yourself temporary tattoos of the spells that you wish to prepare on various places on your body.

To do so you utilize special tool called an 'Ink Gun', which allows you to make magical tattoos.

As well, you can use your tattoos as an arcane focus when casting wizard spells.

Tattooed Enhancement

Starting at 2nd level when you choose this school, you gain a special tattoos called an Enhancer. When you prepare your spells, you can place your Enhancers on different parts of your body to gain certain benefits.

  • Head and Neck: You gain proficiency in one Wisdom or Intelligence based skill.
  • Torso: You gain temporary hit points equal to 5 + your Intelligence modifier.
  • Legs: You increase your movement speed by 10 feet.
  • Arms: The range of your wizard spells increases by a 5 feet.

At 6th, 10th and 14th level, you gain additional Enhancer tattoos.

Arcane Inscription

Also beginning at 6th level, you have discovered ways to permanently tattoo spells on to your flesh. Choose one spell that you know. You always have this spell prepared, and it does not count against the number of spells you have prepared. At 10th level, you can chose a second spell to inscribe, and at 14th level, you can chose a third spell to inscribe.

Supercharged Enhancements

Beginning at 10th level you can create a more potent Enhancer tattoo. When scribing your Enhancers on your body you can designate one of them to be a Supercharged Enhancer. Those give the following benefits :

  • Head and Neck: You gain proficiency in two Wisdom or Intelligence based skills.
  • Torso: You can add your Intelligence modifier to your Constitution saving throws.
  • Legs: You increase your movement speed by 10 feet, and you can add your proficiency bonus to your initiative checks.
  • Arms: The range of your wizard spells increases by 15 feet.

Inked Scrolls

At 14th level, you can learn a process in which you can tattoo spell scrolls on to your body as tattoos. The spell scrolls can have a combined level equal to 6 (for example, you could have one 6th level spell scribed on to your body, or two 3rd level spells) .

Due to your familiarity with tattoos, this process is different from normal spell scroll preparation. Scribing scrolls in this way only takes half the time and gold cost that it normally would.

Note: This subclass is loosely based off the idea that magic tattoos are fairly common in the setting of the game, and that more general types of magic tattoos are available for use by other player characters and NPCs. Speak with your DM about what this might mean if you decide to play this school of wizardry.
