### Arcanist Born with natural arcane talents yet pursued a different path in growing their gift. Unlike other sorcerers who solely rely on their experience to become more proficient with their magic, an arcanist spends their time studying arcane knowledge from books, scrolls, tomes, and even wizards willing to mentor them and as a result, their potential as an arcane practitioner goes much farther and stronger with their vast access of resources. #### Arcane Intellect You are fueled by both experience and knowledge gained through your studies. Beginning at 1st level when you choose this sorcerous origin, you are able to learn spells of 1st level or higher from the wizard spell list whose combined spell level must be equal or less than your Intelligence modifier + half of your sorcerer level (minimum of one 1st-level spell). You must have a spell slot for each spell learned through this feature. Any spells learned through this feature is a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn't count against your number of spells known. When your spellcasting feature allows you to replace or learn a spell, you can also replace a number of spells learned through this feature following the restrictions. If you have not reached the limit for this feature, you can learn additional spells as well. For example, if you are level 4 sorcerer with a +2 Intelligence modifier, you can learn either a four 1st level spells, one 2nd level spell and two 1st level spells, or one 3rd level spell and one 1st level spell. #### Sorcerous Scholar Starting at 1st level, you are capable of comprehending arcane writings and absorb sealed magic. You can cast the spell *Comprehend Languages* without expending a spell slot or components a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once) or by expending 2 sorcery points. You regain expended uses when you finish a long rest. Additionally, you are able to learn a wizard spell from a spell scroll by expending the necessary time and gold. The cost represents the materials to practice and integrate the spell as your own. However, you cannot learn a wizard spell if you don't have the spell slot for its level or if its from another wizard's spellbook. #### Spell Recycle Starting at 6th level, you are able to draw what remains of your arcane energy from the spells you cast. Whenever you cast a spell by expending a spell slot higher than its base level and a creature succeeds on the forced saving throw or misses with its spell attack roll, you can use your reaction on your turn to capture the spell's energy and regain a single expended spell slot. The level of the spell slot you can regain must be less than the spell you cast. Once you use this feature, you cannot do it again until you finish a long rest unless the spell you cast has one of your metamagic options. #### Advance Metamagic At 14th level, you are able to apply various arcane formulas that you gained from your studies to further shape and empower your spells. You learn one of the advance metamagic options, and again when you reach 20th level. ___ **Amplified Spell.** When you roll for damage for a spell you cast, you can instead choose a number of damage die equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of one) and expend 2 sorcery points for each one. You instead use the highest possible number for the damage die. ___ **Fueled Spell.** When you cast a spell that has a material component with a specific cost and does not consumes it, you can instead expend any number of sorcery points as an alternative for the cost. For each sorcery point expended, you replace 10 gold worth of material components times your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 10 gp). You can partially pay the material costs, however you must still provide the remaining to cast the spell. ___ **Focal Spell.** When you cast a spell that does not specifically target a creature and can't be concentrated, you can expend 3 sorcery points and choose a single creature within the spell's range, the spell only targets that creature. The target has disadvantage on the saving throw against the spell as well as a penalty applied to their roll. The penalty is equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of -1). Alternatively, if the spell can be concentrated, you can instead have the spell follow the target for the duration of the spell. #### Sorcerous Supreme Starting at 18th level, your knowledge combined with your experience handling your arcane magic has culminated into a performance that becomes second nature to you. When you cast a spell by expending a spell slot, you can cast it one level higher than the expended spell slot by expending a number of sorcery points equal to 1 + half of the spell slot's level (rounded up). ___ >##### Credits to: >[Master Arcanist Ziggs](https://www.artstation.com/artwork/o23wB) by [Alex Flores](https://www.artstation.com/alexflores)
