Otherworldy patron:
the Curse Binder
You have made your pact with a dark and powerful entity. A creature of legend who holds secrets that were forgotten before the mortal races were born. This being's motivations are often inscrutable. The shadowy force behind this power can offer abilities to warlocks who form pacts with it. Many curse-binder warlocks create magical curses that emulate those formed by their patron. Others forgo such powers, content to weave the dark magic of their patron into their spellcasting.
Expanded Spell List
The curse-binder lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.
| Spell Level | Alternate Effects |
|---|---|
| 1st | Bane, Inflict Wounds |
| 2nd | Blindness/Deafness, Hold Person |
| 3rd | Bestow Curse, Animate Dead |
| 4th | Blight, Phantasmal Killer |
| 5th | Contagion, Insect Plague |
Baleful Curse
Starting at 1st level, you gain the ability to place a curse on someone. As a bonus action, choose one creature you can see within 30 feet of you. The target is cursed for 1 minute. The curse ends early if the target dies, you die, or you are incapacitated. Until the curse ends, whenever the cursed target makes an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw, it must roll a d4 and subtract the result from the roll. At 10th level, this increases to a d6.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Aura of Misfortune
Starting at 6th level, you can use a bonus action to create an aura of misfortune around yourself. For 1 minute, any creature that attacks you while within 10 feet of you must roll a d6 and subtract the result from the attack roll.
You can use this feature once, and you regain use of it when you finish a long rest.
Hexed Psyche
At 10th level, the outer layers of your mind becomes become protected by dark magics and terrible curses - safeguarding it against those who would bend it to their will. You are immune to being charmed. When another creature attempts to charm you, you can use your reaction to attempt to punish them for their audacity. The creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your warlock spell save DC or take necrotic damage equal to your warlock level.
Master of Ill Fate
Starting at 14th level, you can spread your Baleful Curse from a slain creature to another creature. When the creature cursed by your Baleful Curse dies, you can apply the curse to a different creature you can see within 30 feet of you, provided you aren't incapacitated.
